Design of backdoor

Aim: To design Tailgate/Backdoor panel and its reinforcements from given styling surface.

Backdoor covers the luggage compartment in any Car and consist of various other features like rear washer , mountings for tailgate trim, Seal flange etc

It Consist of the following parts mostly.

1) Tailgate outer panel- Styling Surface, Maybe single or split depending on styling

2) Tailgate inner panel- Derived from styling surface and sealing flange

3) Latch Reinforcement

4) Hinge Reinforcement

5) Gas stay reinforcement

Design procedure:

The initial styling surface is given by the styling department.

Using this styling surface , the sealing flange is developed keeping in consideration the roof and back panel , quarter panel parts.

The inner panel is developed using sealing flange as reference.
