Design of backdoor

Back Door Design of a Car

Aim:

To design the back door of a car by using the given class 'A'

What is back door of a car?

The Back door is an enclosed space usually at the rear of the car whereyou can put your bags.

Operation of Back door of Car.

In most of the cars are operated with the help of Gas Stay which in turn reduces the efforet required to liftopen the door. Some luxury cars have powered backdoor which in turn is driven by an electric motor.

Images of Back Door of a car different parts:

Types of Back Door:

1. Top Mounted

2. Side Mounted

3. Bottom Mounted

Design Consideration:

1. Visibility Critiria.

2. Latch and Stricker position

3. Hing Position

4. Gas Stay Position

5. Space Availability

6. Drain Hole

7. Hemming and Relief area's

Components of back door.

1. Inner Panel

2. Outer Panel

3. Hing Reinforcement

4. Latch and Stricker reinforcement

5. Gas stay reinforcement

6. Wiper Motor Reinforcement.

Input Data:

1, Class A of Back Door

2. Outer Panel Thickness - 0.75mm

3. Inner Panel Thickness - 0.75mm

4. Reinforcement Thickness - 1.5mm

Inner Panel.

Sealing FLange:

Hinge Reinforcement

Hinges are the essential, that allows doors to pivot on one edge as they open and close. They are found on virtually all doors. It is a mechanical bearing that connects two solid objects, typically allowing only a limited angle of rotation between them.

Gas Stay reinforcement.

It is used to liftup the tail gate.

Latch Reinforcement

A Latch is not the same as the locking mechanism of a door or window, althrough often they are found together in the same product. Latches range in complexity from flexible one -piece flat springs of metal or plastic such as are used to keep blow molded plastic power tool cases closed, to multi-point cammed latches used to keep large doors closed.

Wiber Motor Reinforment:

It is small electric motor which is mounted in the rear Tail gate. It used to clean the rear wind sheid for clear visiability.

Outer Panel:

Corner Relief:

Relief helps to control sheet metal material behavior and to prevent unwanted deformation during unbend operations. So here i gave two cornor relief for Back door.

Hemming:

Hemming and searning are two similar metalworking processes in which a sheet metal edge is rolled over onto itsell. Hemming is the process in which the edge is rolled flush to itself, while a seam joins the edges of two material.
