CREATION OF COLUMN SCHEDULE AND DRAWING TEMPLATE USING AUTOCADD |
Aim: To Creat a Column Schedule and Drawing Template Using AutoCAD
Introduction:
For creating a column shedule and to draw a template, the mani tools used in AutoCAD are line tool, text, annotation etc.
- Line:
- Command sed is L or LINE. It can also be evoked from ribbon, tool bar, menu bar.
- It is most command bsic tool in AutoCAD.
- First we have to specify the starting point and then follow the command to complete the geometry using line tool.
- Annotation objects:
- Annotation objects include dimensions, notes and other types of expllanatory symbols or objects commonly used to add information to your drawing.
- It provides information about a feature, such as lenght of a wall
- Annotation objects are scaled differently than the views of the drawing, and depend on the scale of how they should appear when plotted.
- Common annotations that can be created in a drawing are notes and lables (single line and multiline text). Tabular date(table), dimensions and geometruc tolerences, hatches, gradients and fills, notes symbols with leaders, title blocks and attributes.
- Annotation Scale:
- Annotation scale is used to determine text height or the overall scale of an annotation objects.
- The approach used to calculate an annotation scale depends on whether the objects is placed in model space or layout.
- The text height or scale of an annotation object model space can be sset to a fixed text height or be controlled by assigning the object and annotation scale.
- Annotation objects assigned fixed text height or object scale remain proportionate in size to the current plot or viewport scale.
- If annotation property of an annotation objects is enaboed, the text height or scale of the annotation ibjects adjusts baed on the current drawing annotation with the result that it will remain at the same size automatically.
- Now the annotation objects created in paper space on a layout should becreated at full sixe because layouts are commonly plotted at a 1:1 scale.
- Text: Two types - Multiline text and Single line text.
Muliti line text: For longer notes and lables with internal formatting, use multiline text.
- Click home tab--> Annotation panle-->Multiline text, In command : MTEXT.
- Specify the opposite corners of a bounding box to define the width of the multiline text object. If the ribbon is not active, the Text formatting toolbar displays.
Specify the initial formatting :
- To Ident the first line of each aragraph, drag the first line indent slider on the ruler. To indent the other lines of each paragraph, drag the hanging indent slider.
- To set tabs, click the ruler where you want a tab stop.
- To change the current text style, select the desired text style from the dropdown list.
- Enter the text (while typing text may be displayed horizontally).
- To change the indicidual characters, words or paragraphs, highlight the text and specify the formatting changes.
Single Line: For short, simple notes and labels, use single line texts.
- Click home tab --> Annotation panel --> single line text. Command DTEXT.
- Specify the insertion point. If YOU Press enter, the program inserts the new text immediately below the last text object you created, if any.
- Enter a height or click to specify the height of the text. If a specific height is set in the current text style, this prompt is skepped.
- Enter am angle value or click to specify the height of the text. If a specific height is set in the current text style, this prompt it skipped.
- Enter the text, while typing the text may be displayed horizontally.
- To creat another single line text, do one of the following:
- Press ENTER to start another line of text immediately below.
- Click a loction for the next object.
Default Procedure:
- Open AutoCAD application from my desktop
- Click File menu to open NEW Sheet
- Slect default setting Imperial as (feet and inches)
- I have kept snap and grid setting off
- I used Ortho on/off when required in diagram
- Now in command bar press UN or UNIT to set unit
- Type- Engineering
- Pricision - 0'0"
- Enter.
Q1. Column Schedule:
Aim: To creat the column schedule using line tool and single line text in AutoCAD as shown in the figure
Step by step procedure:
- Initially set the units as Engineering (feet and inches).
- Here, there are four columns as shown i.e C1, C1a, C2, C2a, C3.
- The column C1 contains 4 no.s of 20mm dia bars and 6 no.s of 12mm dia bars(a); C1a contains 12 no.s of 16mm dia bars; C2 contains 8 no.s of 20mm dia bars; C2a contains 8 no.as of 16mm dia bars; C3 contains 12 no.s of 16mm dia bars.
- Stirrups are having bar dia a 8mm [laced at a c/c Spacing of 3" near the ends and 8" at the middle.
- According to IS456:2000 for a column the nominal cover should not be les than 40mm in any case. Hence provid3 400mm nominal cover for coloumn i.e 1.5" (approx).
Step:1 To draw the Table:
- Take a line command
- Specify the first point at anywhere
- Specify the next point as: 90"<0
- Specify the next point as: 20"<90
- Specify the next point as: 90"< 180
- Close it
- Take divide command from command bar
- Select the object by selecting the horizontal line.
- Enter the no og segment as 6
- Take object snap as ON
- Take line command
- Specify next point--> select point on horizontal line
- Specify the next point-->on the oppsite horizontal line, where objectf snap showing the perpendicular symbol
- Take copy command
- Copy it at other points
- Again take point style command
- Select point style as regular
- Use offset command
- Specify offset distance-->4"
- Slect the object--> click i=on upper horizontal line and lower horizontal line
- Use offset command
- Specify distance as 7.5"
- Specify the next point--> until the end of table
- Trim unwanted part

Step:2 To Draw Column
C1:
- Take line commant
- Specify first point @Any where
- Specify the next point: 9"<0
- Specify the next point: 24"<90
- Specify the next point: 9"<180
- Specify the next point: C to close
- And noe used JOINT command to joint the all line
- Now take offset of rectangle diagram at inner side by 1"
- Explore the last object
- Take divide command
- Divide in four segment
- Select the object as inner vertical line
- Use the line command to show the dividation
- Take a circle command
- Specify the first point anywhere ou of the diagram
- Specify the radius as 0.5"
- Take HATCH command to fill the circle used solid Hatch.
- Hence the column C1 is completed.
Result of C1 Column:

- Similarly complete the rest of the columns:
C1a:

C2:

C2a:

C3:

- Hence all the column have been created.
- Now
Step:3 To Creat and fill the text in table:
- Click On annotation tab >single line
- Font name: Romans.shx.
- Height : 8"

- Now fynally move all these diagram and place it in a proper was as shown below
- Take the scakle command
- Slect the object
- Specify base point as centre of object
- Mover the curser to get the increse size.
