AIM:What is BIM? Summarize the features of BIM and benefits of using BIM over 2D CAD tools.
ANSWER:
Building Information Modelling is an collaborative platform which allows engineers, architects, electrician ,contractor, designer to plan and construct in a 3D model.BIM objects, the components that make up a BIM model, are intelligent, have geometry, and store data. If any element is changed, BIM software updates the model to reflect that change. This allows the model to remain consistent and coordinated throughout the entire process so that structural engineers, architects, MEP engineers, designers, project managers, and contractors can work in a more collaborative environment.
Features and Benefits of BIM over 2D-CAD:
2.
AIM:Understand the concept of Categories, Families, Elements, Instances in Revit. Go to Insert Tab, choose a category. Pick a family and element. Understand the instances and insert it to Revit model
ANSWER:
Categories families element are the component in revit which are used in the filling of the house details,They are connected to each other :
CATEGORIES:These are the like the materials which are to be required fora house and are visible through eyes.Ex: Doors, windows, stairs etc.
FAMILIES:These are the sub category of the topic mentioned above.i.e. If we take table category,we need to specify the shape of it ,so the familiesare defines about which type of shape u want in that category.
ELEMENT:Element shows about the size and dimension of the families .It differentiate it from the other families and can be used accordigly as the space required
INSTANCES:Instance is a parameter as if the familiy is made INSTANCE ,the changes in dimension done on it doesn't affect the dimesnsion of the same family.
Now to If u have a type parameter ->Change it to Instance parameter or vice versa
3.
AIM:Setting up a Project – Open a project file with architectural template. Save the file with appropriate name. Set up the project units to Imperial / Metric based on your convenience of modelling. Complete the project information under Manage tab. Set up the maximum backups for project file to 3
PROCEDURE:
RESULT:We learned about opneing the architectural template anf keeping the backup for file in cae of data loss and saving the project info forr the clients
4.
AIM: Understand the concept of Levels and Grids. Follow the naming and conventions. Create the following Levels: ( Convert to metric equivalents if metric is your units)
Ground Floor @ 0’
First Floor @ 10’
Second Floor @ 20’
Roof @ 30’
Grids Transverse Grids A, B,C,D, E @ 10’ spacing
Longitudinal Grids from 1 to 10 @ 20’ spacing
PROCEDURE:
STEP1 For levels
//Repeat the method for 2nd and roof floor and name them accordingly
STEP2 for grids
//Do the procedure for C,D& E at a distance of 10' from each other
For the transverse grid
//Repeat the above methods and make 10 grid lines at a distance of 20' from each other
5.
AIM: 3D modelling of residential unit – From looking at your house / or a place you aspire. Create a conceptual layout of the residential unit. You can measure using a tape or
you can access your residential plan to create a similar layout.
PROCEDURE:
RESULT: We created a residential unit and gave a 3d height to the plan
6.
AIM:In the layout created draft the level of details you are planning to include – Dimensions of room, components you plan to add in the residential unit.
PROCEDURE:
For Dimensions
//Do it for every room of the plan to give dimension of the room
For Tagging room
RESULT:We used annotation to give dimension to the house plan
7.
AIM.Identify the residential model elements such as Door, Windows, Tables, Chair, Couch, Bed, Lamps from the library and insert them to the model
PROCEDURE:
To insert family in the plan
//Similarly select the windows, doors family you want //To bring it on the project browser panel
//Wall lights are not visible in floor view, switch to elevation view to make it visible.
RESULT:
2D plan of the house
3D view
