Challenge

Creating Conceptual mass in REVIT and Creation of Sinusoidal curve and a Parametric stadium using Dynamo

AIM

Using Dynamo create a set of sinusoidal points and create a curve and create a surface out of the curve.

INTRODUCTION

Autodesk Revit is a BIM(Building Information Modelling) software civil engineers, architects, mechanical, electrical, plumbing(MEP)engineers

Here we are using Dynamo in the Revit

Tools used in Dynamo

Integer slider

Range

Point.bycoordinates

Math.sin

Product

List

Byloft(surface)

PROCEDURE

Step 1:Open Revit

Select manage tab

Open Dynamo

Step 2:In library search integer slider

copy the slider and make 3 sliders

Step 3:Select range from library

Select point.bycoordinates

Select code block

Select math.sin

Step 4:Connect sliders with start end step of range

Frome range connect to the x of two point.bycoordinates and math.sin

Add value to code block

Step 5:Select product

Connect code block with z of point.bycoordinates

Connect code block with y of product

Math.sin with y of point.bycoordinates

Product with z of point.bycoordinates

Step 6:Select nurbs

Copy and make 2 nurbs

Select list option

Step 7:Connect two point.bycoordinates with two nurbs

Connect nurbs with list

Step 8:Select surface by loft

Connect with list

AIM

Create a conceptual layout of the floor plan in dynamo . Using the tools available in dynamo link the lines to appropriate model elements in Revit by choosing the wall types and wall parameters. Make use of the sliders to slide through the height of the wall and length of the wall.

Step 2:In library search integer slider

copy the slider and make 2 sliders

Select four point.bycoordinates

Select four line by start and end point

Select list

Step 3:Connect first point.bycoordinates start point of first line by start and end point and end point of fourth line by start and end point

Connect second point.bycoordinates start point of second ‘line by start and end point’ and end point of first ‘line by start and end point’

Connect third point.bycoordinates start point of third ‘line by start and end point’ and end point of second ‘line by start and end point’

Connect fourth point.bycoordinates start point of fourth ‘line by start and end point’ and end point of third ‘line by start and end point’

Connect all ‘line by start and end point’ with list

Step 4:Select levels

Wall type

Integer slider

Wall by curve and height

Step 5:Connect list with curve of ‘Wall by curve and height’

Levels with levels of ‘Wall by curve and height’

Wall type with wall type of ‘Wall by curve and height’

Integer slider with height of ‘Wall by curve and height’

Step 7:Select floor type

AIM

To create an array of model elements in Revit. Use dynamo to vary the properties of model elements by using the slider or code block

INTRODUCTION

Autodesk Revit is a BIM(Building Information Modelling) software civil engineers, architects, mechanical, electrical, plumbing(MEP)engineers

Here we are using Dynamo in the Revit

Tools used in Dynamo

Integer slider

Select model element’

Set rotation

PROCEDURE

Step 1:Open Revit software

Select column

Draw an array of columns

Step 2:Open Dynamo

Select ‘Select model element’

Select set rotation

Select integer slider

Step 3:Click on Select option

Open revit and select the column

Connect ‘Select model element’ with ‘Set rotation’

Connect integer with ‘Set rotation’

Select a value in integer slider

RESULT

AIM

To create a conceptual mass in Revit and develop a parametric column by dividing the surfaces and applying the concepts similar to that used in parametric walkway modelling. Use triangular bent or square shaped panels to add finish to the parametric column

PROCEDURE

Step 1:Open Revit software

Select new

Select conceptual mass

Open metric mass file

Step 2:Set a Level

Select spline

Draw a curve

Step 3:Set work plane on the curve

Step 4:Draw polygon on the set plane

Step 5:Select the curve

Select a starting polygon
