- Residence Plan:
Sketch the layout of a residence as shown in the Figure 1. Consider all dimensions as reference to sketch the unit plan. Also, the text in the layout is only for reference. Assume the missing dimensions. Also, refer the schedule for size of the doors.
Aim:
To sketch the layout of residence using AutoCAD software using engineering unit as the drawing unit.

Procedure
- Open AutoCAD software, type QNEW and press enter.
- Select default setting as imperial.
- Type UN in command box and press enter.
- Set drawing units of the length as engineering with the precision of 0’-0.0”
- Type limit in command box and press enter.
- Specify lower left corner as 0’-0.0”,0’-0.0” and press enter.
- Specify upper right corner as 70’,70’ and press enter.
- Type XL in command box and press enter.
- Click on the horizontal in command box and press enter.
- Again, type XL in command box, choose vertical option in command box and draw vertical construction line by pressing enter.
- Select the trim tool and trim the extra lines in lower portion to create the corner.
- Type O in command box and specify offset distance as 9” and take offsets to both lines.
- Type F in command box and press enter.
- Click on radius option in command box and specify radius as 0 units.
- Select the inner lines and fillet it.
- Type O in command box, press enter and specify offset distance as 6’ and press enter.
- Take offset in vertical direction to the inner horizontal line to draw the stairs.
- Take offset of 9” to above drawn line in vertically upward direction and trim the extra line to create the joint.
- Again, take offset of 12’-6.0” in right direction to the upper vertical line followed by offset of 9” in left side for the same vertical line to draw the kitchen.
- Using fillet tool with the radius 0 units create right bottom corner of kitchen by filleting the above drawn lines.
- Take offset of 6’-8.0” to above drawn horizontal line in upward direction followed by offset of 4.5” in upward direction to draw the upper right inner wall of kitchen.
- Using the fillet tool fillet, the outer line to create the outer corner of kitchen.
- Now, take offset of 6’-4.0” to the inner vertical line in left side and trim the extra lines using trim tool.
- Take offset of 11’ in upward direction to upper horizontal line and extend the same line using EXTEND command in left side.
- Take offset of 4.5” in vertically upward direction followed by offset of 4’-6” to previous offset to draw the toilet #1.
- Again, take the offset of 4.5” in upward direction to the previously drawn offset to create the other wall of toilet #1
- Using trim tool trim the extra lines to create joints to the vertical line.
- Now, take offset of 8’-3” to the upper vertical line in right side followed by offset of 4.5” in the same side to the previous offset.
- Type F in command box and press enter
- Choose the multiple option in command box and create the corner with the fillet radius 0
- To draw the Bed #1, take offset of 12’ in upward direction to the upper horizontal line.
- Again, take offset of 9” to the just drawn horizontal line in upper side using offset tool.
- Now take offset of 11’-7.5” to the upper vertical line in right side followed by offset of 4.5” to the previously drawn offset to create inner wall between Bed #1 and Bed #2.
- Take offset of 11’-6.0” to the just drawn vertical line in right side followed by offset of 9” in the same side to the previously drawn offset.
- Type F in command box and press enter.
- Choose the multiple option in command box and select the outer horizontal and vertical lines followed by inner horizontal and vertical line to create the right corner
- Trim the extra line using trim tool.
- Extend the just drawn vertical lines of right side using the EXTEND command, for that type EX in command box and press enter.
- Then select the lines to be extended, it will extend the lines up to bottom horizontal line of plan and trim the extra unwanted lines using trim tool.

- To draw the bed #2, take offset of 12’ to the right top inner horizontal line in downward direction followed by offset of 4.5” in the same direction to the previous offset.
- Again, to draw Toilet #2 take offset of 4’-6” in downward direction followed by offset of 4.5” to the previously drawn offset.
- Using trim tool trim the extra lines to create the joints for that type TR in command box and press enter. Then select the lines to be trimmed.
- Take offset of 8’-1.5” in left direction to the right-side wall of Toilet #2 followed by offset of 4.5” in the same direction to draw the left-side wall of Toilet #2.
- Type F in command box and press enter.
- Click on multiple option in command box and select the inner horizontal and vertical lines followed by outer horizontal and vertical lines to create the top left and bottom left corners of Toilet #2.

- To draw the living, take offset of 11’ in vertically downward direction from bottom face of Toilet #2 followed by offset of 9” in downward direction to draw the other side wall of living.
- Using trim tool, create the joint of wall of living room with the right-side vertical wall.
- Take offset of 8’-6” in left direction to the right-side wall of parking area and extend the line using extend command. Now using the trim command trim the extra line to create the opening for the living.
- Now, type O in command box and press enter. Specify offset distance of 3’3” and take offset to the right facing wall outer wall of kitchen to create opening in right direction.
- Again, take offset of 1’-3” to right-side wall of parking in in left direction followed by offset of 6’ to the offset taken in left side and extend the lines in upward direction using EXTEND command to create the window of living.
- Trim the extra projected lines using the trim tool.
- Now, join the midpoints of just drawn offsets it will create the window.
- To draw the door, type L in command box and press enter.
- Specify first point as the midpoint of right-side of opening and specify next point as @0.5”<180 and press enter.
- Specify next point @3’3”<90 and press enter.
- Type C in command box and press enter. Select the center of circle as left endpoint of 0.5” line and draw the circle with left quadrant touching the left face of opening.
- Take offset of 0.5” to the vertically drawn line of opening to create the hinge of door.
- Now trim the extra portion of circle using trim tool.
- Similarly, draw the doors for BED #1 and BED #2by following the same procedure as explained for door of living with the variation of length of opening which is 3’ of bedrooms as shown in the below figure.

- For drawing opening foe toilets take offset of 2’6” from inner right wall of toilet #1 in left direction.
- Extend the just drawn offset and source line of offset in upward direction by using EX command and trim the extra projected lines to create the opening.
- Now from midpoint of thickness of wall of toilet #1 draw line of 0.5” length in left direction using line command and specify next point in vertically downward direction.
- Then type C in command box, press enter, select the center of circle as left endpoint of 0.5” line and specify next point as other end of opening of Toilet #1.
- Take offset of 0.5” in left direction to vertically drawn line to crate the door and extend the line where it is required using the extend command as shown in the fig.

- To draw the stairs take offset of 3’ in right direction to the left side wall of stair block.
- Similarly take offset of 3’ to the inner bottom horizontal line of stair block in upward direction.
- Again, take offset of 0.2” in both side of just drawn line and select the source line and erase it using the erase tool.
- Trim the extra projections using trim tool.
- Type CO in command box and press enter. Select the lower portion of the line, press enter and select base point as bottom end of the line.
- Now, click on the array option in command box and specify number of items to array as 9 and press enter.
- Click on fit option in command box and specify second point as @8’<0 and press enter.
- Type CO in command box and select the all steps, press enter.
- Select the base point as lower end of first step and specify next point as lower end of first step of upper stairs in the plan.
- now, type LT in command box and press enter.
- Select the load option and load ISO02100 dash line type and change the global scale factor in line type manager from 1 to o.5 and click on ok.
- Now select the upper portion of stairs and in ribbon of home tab go to dropdown of line type and select line type as loaded ISO02W100 dash line.
- To draw the furniture, change the line type as continuous and type O in command box and press enter.
- Specify offset distance of 2’ and take offset of 2’ in upward direction to the bottom inner side of kitchen and right inner wall of kitchen and trim the extra projected line using trim tool.
- Using line and trim tool draw and edit the walls of parking
- Type REC in command box and press enter. Select the first corner point of rectangle and select dimension in command box. Specify length as 5’-9” and width as 1’-5” and press enter and specify another corner of the rectangle.
- Insert the above drawn rectangle in bottom left corner of bed #1 by using the move tool and copy the same in bottom right corner bed #2 using the copy tool as shown in fig.

- Now insert the text in plan using the TEXT command for each unit of plan.
- Also give the dimensions to each component of plan using the dimension tool.
- Now, type LA in command box and press enter, it will open the layer property manager dialog box.
- Add the different layers for each component of plan having similar function and assign them different colors as shown in the figure.

- Now select the external line and add in ex- wall layer using drop down of layer panel of home tab.
- Similarly, add each component in their respective layer to have a control over each component in respect of visibility, editing and working process as shown

- Type LIMIT in command box and press enter.
- Specify lower left corner as 0,0 and press enter.
- Specify upper right corner as 5000,5000 and press enter.
- Type C in command box and press enter.
- Specify center of circle as 2000,2000 and press enter.
- Specify radius of circle as 1398 and press enter.
- Again type C in command box and press enter.
- Specify center of circle as 2000,2000 and specify radius of circle as 452 and press enter.
- Make sure ortho on status bar is on.
- Type L in command box and press enter.
- Select the first point, specify next point @200<180 and press enter.
- specify next point @400<90 and press enter.
- Specify next point @200<0, press enter and press escape.
- Now, choose the Arc tool from the ribbon of home tab and select start, end and radius option.
- Select the start of arc as right endpoint of upper line and end point as star point of bottom line in right side.
- Specify radius as 200 units and press enter.
- Type F in command box and press enter.
- Click on the multiple option in command box and click on radius option in command box.
- Specify radius as 50 units and press enter.
- Select the horizontal and vertical lines to create the left-side corners of seating.
- Type O in command box and press enter.
- Specify offset distance as 20 units and take offset in outer side to top and bottom horizontal line along with the drawn arc.
- Again, type O in command box and press enter.
- Specify offset distance as 50 units and press enter.
- Take offset in outer side to the above drawn offset.
- Now from end points of Arc draw the vertical line in upward direction 50 unit length using line tool.
- Type O in command box and press enter.
- Specify offset distance of 20 unit and take offset in left direction to the above drawn 50 unit length vertical lines.
- Then type TR in command box and press enter. Trim the unwanted extra projected lines.
- Similarly using line tool from the left end points of top and bottom horizontal line draw the vertical line of 50 unit length it will create the seating.
- Type CO in command box and press enter.
- Select the whole seating geometry and press enter.
- Select the base point midpoint of seating and copy the seating three times.
- Type MOVE in command box and press enter. Select the first seating geometry and press enter.
- Select the base point as geometric center of the first seating and specify second point as 2782,2000 and press enter.
- Now, type RO in command box and press enter.
- Select the second seating and press enter.
- Select the base point as geometric center of second seating and specify rotation angle 90 and press enter.
- Now, type MOVE in command box and press enter.
- Select the second seating and press enter.
- Select the base point as geometric center of second seating and specify second point as 2000,2782 and press enter.
- Now, type RO in command box and press enter.
- Select the third seating and press enter.
- Select the base point as geometric center of third seating and specify rotation angle 180 and press enter.
- Now, type MOVE in command box and press enter.
- Select the third seating and press enter.
- Select the base point as geometric center of third seating and specify second point as 1218,2000 and press enter.
- Now, type RO in command box and press enter.
- Select the fourth seating and press enter.
- Select the base point as geometric center of fourth seating and specify rotation angle 90 and press enter.
- Now, type MOVE in command box and press enter.
- Select the fourth seating and press enter.
- Select the base point as geometric center of second seating and specify second point as 2000,1218 and press enter.
- Using dimension tool give the dimensions.
- The geometry of outdoor seating with canopy is ready.

- Sketch the part plan for the toilers and utilities room. Consider the outer wall thickness as 300mm and inner wall thickness as 150mm. Also, assume the missing dimension, Texts, dimensions, and hatches are only for references. Also, symbols for toilets and w/c are also for references.

- Select the inner lines and fillet it. It will create the bottom left corner.
- Type O in command box, press enter. Specify offset distance as 1900 units and take offset to vertical line in right side.
- Type O in command box and specify offset distance as 150 units and take offsets to right side to the right vertical line.
- Type F in command box and press enter.
- Select the inner lines and outer lines of bottom right corner to fillet it. It will create the bottom right corner.
- Type O in command box, press enter and take offset of 2100 units in upward side to the inner horizontal line.
- Type O in command box, press enter and specify offset distance 150 units.
- Take offset in vertical direction.
- Type O in command box, press enter, specify offset distance 1700 units, press enter and take offset in vertical direction.
- Type O in command box, press enter, specify offset distance as 300 units, press enter and take offset in vertical direction to upper horizontal line.
- Now, type F in command box, click on multiple option then click on radius option and type radius as 0 units, press enter, select inner and outer lines and fillet it to create the upper corners.
- Type L in command box, specify start point as right top corner point.
- Specify next point @351<90 and press enter.
- Specify next point @702<180 and press enter.
- Specify next point @351<270, press enter and press escape.
- Type O in command box, specify offset distance 150 units, press enter and take offset in inner side to above just drawn lines.
- Trim the extra projected lines using trim tool.
- For drawing window to the D.H. Toilet take offset of 150 units from left inner wall to right side followed by offset of 631 units in same side to just drawn offset.
- Type EX in command box, press enter and extend the just drawn offset in upward side.
- Using trim tool trim the extra projections.
- Join the midpoints of window using line tool.
- Type O in command box, press enter, specify offset distance 25 units, press enter and take three offsets in upward side from middle line, in left side from right face of window and right side from left face of window.
- Using trim tool trim the extra unwanted lines.
- For sketching the door opening and doors, take offset of 100 units from bottom inner line of utility room and extend it using extend command.
- Again take offset of 828 units in upper side from just drawn offset and extend the same line using extend command.
- Trim the extra projected lines using trim tool.
- For drawing door frame and hinges, choose line tool, specify first point as right top corner of door opening, specify next point as @75<90 and press enter.
- specify next point as @75<180 and press enter.
- specify next point as @25<270 and press enter.
- specify next point as @50<180 and press enter.
- specify next point as @50<90 and press enter.
- Now using line tool specify first point as top left corner of frame and draw horizontal line in left direction.
- Take offset of 25 units in downward direction to the just drawn line.
- Type C in command box, press enter, specify center of circle as top left corner of hinge and draw circle fitting between the opening.
- For drawing the door for toilet copy the frame and hinge from door opening of utility room to their corresponding positions in the door opening of toilet and draw the door for toilet with the variation of starting of door opening 150 units away from the middle wall in upward direction and width of door opening taken as 832 units.
- For drawing window for utility room take offset of 150 units to bottom face of middle wall followed by offset of 728 units in downward side to just drawn offset.
- Extend the drawn offset using extend toll and trim extra projected lines and create window opening.
- Join the window opening using line tool and take offset of 30 units in inner side from inner face of wall and offset of 25 units from left and right faces of window.
- Using rectangle tool draw small squares and position them in window to create the window frame and trim the extra unwanted lines using trim tool.
- For drawing the toilet type REC in command box, specify first corner as inner left top corner of toilet room, click on dimension option, specify length 950 units, width 150 unit and specify second corner in fourth quadrant.
- For drawing the toilet type REC in command box, specify first corner, click on dimension option, specify length 400 units, width 50 unit and specify second corner in fourth quadrant.
- Move the rectangle using move tool such that midpoint of bottom line of previous rectangle coincide with the midpoint of upper line of just drawn rectangle.
- Type L in command box and specify start point as right bottom corner of rectangle, specify next point @400<270 and press enter.
- Chose arc tool, select start, end and radius option, select start point endpoint of line, end point @400<180 and specify radius as 200 units.
- Take offset of 400 units in left side to the just drawn vertical line.
- Similarly draw the inner portion of toilet using line and arc tool.
- Similarly draw the washing basin using line, offset, circle and fillet tool.
- Give the dimensions to the plan using dimension tool.
- Also insert the text using text tool.
- Now, type LA in command box and press enter, it will open the layer property manager dialog box.
- Add the different layers for each component of plan having similar function and assign them different colors as shown in the figure.
- Now select the external line and add in ex- wall layer using drop down of layer panel of home tab.
- Similarly, add each component in their respective layer to have a control over each component in respect of visibility, editing and working process as shown in below fig.
