CAD DESIGN OF YACHT

CAD DESIGN OF YACHT

INTRODUCTION

This project report discuss the CAD design of YACHT. Using solid work software I created 3D model of a Yacht. I made different solid work parts like Propeller, Radar, Hull, Garage Door, Front Seat, Middle Seat, Rear seat, Superstructure, Radar mast and finally assemble all this parts and made one solid model of the Yacht.

WHAT IS A YACHT?

A Yacht is a sail or power vessel used for pleasure, cruising or racing. There is no standard definition but yacht is opposed to a boat is about 10 meter in length. , have cabin with amenities that accommodate overnight use, and have been judge to have aesthetic quality.

VARIOUS PARTS OF YACHT

1.PROPELLER

  • A propeller is possibly one of the most important parts of a yacht, because it ultimately determines the speed that will get and the efficiency it will obtain, so the propeller design must be taken very seriously.
  • A yacht propeller rotates, the blades push water down and backwards - much like the action performed by your hand when swimming. Water rushes in behind the blade to fill the space that has been left and results in a pressure difference between the two sides of the blade: A positive pressure, or pushing effect, on the underside and a negative pressure, or pulling effect, on the top side.
  • As Newton said, 'for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction'. That is, when the propeller pushes the water backward, it propels the yacht forward.

CAD DESIGN OF PROPELLER

In the CAD design mainly use revolve, loft, cut extrude and circular pattern command in creation of propeller part.

2.RADAR

  • Radio Detection and Ranging, is used to detect objects and their position relative to your current location.
  • It works by sending out a radio signal. When the signal hits an object, it gets reflected back to the radar, which can then calculate a rough estimate of the object. It does so by detecting other ships and land obstacles, to give bearing and distance for collision avoidance and navigation while on water.
  • A marine radar device acts as a major navigation aid for boaters. It helps in detecting boats, birds, landmasses, and weather systems - even if the visibility is less than usual.

CAD DESIGN RADAR

In this part design mainly use Boss Extrude, Cut Extrude, Mirror, Sketch Pattern and Split line commands in design.

3.HULL

  • A hullis the watertight body of a ship or boat. The hull may open at the top (such as a dinghy), or it may be fully or partially covered with a deck. Atop the deck may be a deckhouse and other superstructures, such as a funnel, derrick, or mast. The line where the hull meets the water surface is called the waterline.
  • The hull is supported exclusively or predominantly by buoyancy. Vessels that have this type of hull travel through the water at a limited rate that is defined by the waterline length.

CAD DESIGN OF HULL

CAD design of the hull is very difficult among other parts. During the CAD design of hull part mainly used Boss Extrude, Cut Extrude, Surface Loft, Surface Trim, Surface Fill, Cut Extrude, Sweep surface, Split line, Mirror etc. were used in creation of the Hull part.

4. GARAGE DOORS

  • A garage dooris a large door on a garage that opens either manually or by an electric motor
  • Garage doors are frequently large enough to accommodate automobiles and other vehicles..
  • The operating mechanism is spring-loaded or counterbalanced to offset the weight of the door and reduce human or motor effort required to operate the door. Less commonly, some garage doors slide or swing horizontally.

CAD DESIGN GARAGE DOORS

In part creation of garage door mainly used Cut Extrude, Mirror and Shell command.

5. FRONT SEAT, MIDDLE SEAT & REAR SEAT

  • A seatis an object that you can sit on, for example a chair. As per the location in yacht seats are classified in mainly 3 types Front Seat, Middle Seat & Rear Seat.

CAD DESIGN OF FRONT SEAT

In this part design mainly used Surface Sweep, Surface Trim, Surface Knit, Surface Loft, Surface Fill, Revolve, Dome and Mirror command.

CAD DESIGN OF MIDDLE SEAT

In this part design mainly used Boss Extrude, Cut Extrude and Mirror command.

CAD DESIGN OF REAR SEAT

Among the all seats rear seat design is the most difficult in CAD modeling. In this part design I mainly used Surface Extrude, Surface Sweep, Surface Offset, Surface Trim, Surface Knit, Surface Loft, Surface Extend, Cut Extrude and Mirror command.

6.SUPERSTRUCTURE

  • A superstructure is an extended construction of any building or platform that rises above the rest of the building or platform in a distinct manner. In ships this is the name given to the part of the ship that emerges from the deck.
  • The size of the superstructure has a great influence on the mobility of the vessels. They are designed in a manner, so that, they add value and hinder the speed and mobility in the least.
  • The superstructure is mostly designed in fashion as well. This is because it is the most easily visible part of the ship, in fact it is the identification of the ship, and so the designers try to provide it with the identity that is unique.

CAD DESIGN OF SUPERSTRUCTURE

Among all the parts in yacht design this one is most typical part to design in my view. Mainly Surface Extrude, Surface Knit, Surface Loft, Surface Trim, Surface Sweep, Projected curve, Ruled Surface, Surface Extend, Delete face, Surface Fill, Cut Extrude, Boss Extrude, Mirror etc. commands are used in design of superstructure part.

7.RADAR MAST

  • The definition of a mast is a tall pole used for support of the sails on a boat. An example of a mast is the pole that holds up the sails and radar on a ship.

CAD DESIGN OF RADAR MAST

In this part design Cut Extrude, Boss Extrude, Shell, Mirror and Surface Sweep commands are used as a CAD design.
