Aim- The main aim of this report was to help Mr.D.S.Pughazhyendhi to choose a best car which fulfils his necessity by benchmarking the latest available cars in market so that he will buy a good car for his family.

Case- Mr.D.S.Pughazhyendhi is a married man who lives in Bangalore which is a highly crowded city. His family comprises five members including his wife five year old boy his father and his mother. He visits his native place Madurai which is 500 km away from Bangalore once in a month. Also, he will be using his car to commute to his office. His budget falls between 8 to 10 lakhs on road. Please suggest to him with options so that he will buy a good car for his family.

What is Benchmarking.

Benchmarking is a way of discovering what is the best performance being achieved whether in a particular company, by a competitor or by entirely different industry. This information can then used to identify gaps in an organization process to achieve a competitive advantage.

Benchmarking is not just a matter of making inquiries to other companies of touring and documenting another company facilities or processes. When making use of benchmarking a company should not limit the scope to its industry, nor should benchmarking be one time event.

According to customers need it would be best for him to go compact SUV as it is a class of small sports utility vehicle bigger than the mini-SUV but smaller than mid-sized SUV. As compact SUV are taller than the hatchback and the sedans you sit at a higher height. This helps you to get a better view of the road.

This is advantageous especially in crowded areas where negotiating through other road users gets a bit tricky. In comparison it gets a bit tough to make your way through traffic in a typical low-slung hatchback or sedan. A height advantage lets you have a better view of your surroundings. 1.Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is available with updated styling, additional equipment and a new petrol engine. Exterior

Feature highlights of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza facelift include projector headlamps with LED DRLs, new grille, new 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, LED tail-lights and a revised rear bumper for freshness. As for the rear, the Vitara Brezza gets new LED taillights and a slightly restyled rear bumper.

Interior

Hyundai Venue, the compact sub-4 metre SUV has arrived in India at a lucrative price tag. The vehicle is available in 13 variants across four trims, seven colours and with three engine options. The compact SUV competes against the likes of Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Honda WR-V in the sub-4 SUV segment.

Exterior

The newly launched Hyundai compact SUV is based on a new design language where the daytime running lamps are integrated on the top and the headlamps are mounted onto the bumper. The compact SUV comes with flared wheel arches and 17-inch wheels which give it a muscular stance. The top spec SX (O) models further get an all-black theme with faux brushed aluminium trim.

Interior

The Hyundai Venue gets a single-tone all-black interior. The vehicle is loaded with features such as electric sunroof, eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, automatic climate control with rear AC vents and more. As for safety and convenience, the Venue will get six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors with camera, electronic stability control, hill launch assist and more.

Engine

Under the hood, the Hyundai Venue is available with a choice of two petrol and one diesel engine option. The petrol version will be available in the 1.0-litre Kappa turbo GDi and 1.2-litre Kappa trims, while the diesel version will get a 1.4-litre U2 CRDi engine. Hyundai claims that the Venue will get an in-house developed seven-speed, power-packed advanced DCT technology in addition to the six-speed and five-speed manual transmissions. The Venue compact SUV will be available in five diesel and eight petrol variants.

Tata Nexon price starts at ₹ 7.20 Lakh and goes upto ₹ 12.96 Lakh. The price of Petrol version for Nexon ranges between ₹ 7.20 Lakh - ₹ 11.63 Lakh and the price of Diesel version for Nexon ranges between ₹ 8.50 Lakh - ₹ 12.96 Lakh.

The Tata Nexon is a compact SUV from the Indian automaker. Launched, in 2017, it received a facelift in 2019 and is offered across eight trim levels with BS6 compliant powertrain and added equipment.

In terms of exterior design, you get headlamps with a sharp design combined with a much sleeker grille as compared to the pre-facelift model. Even the bumper design is revised which has now a larger intake and a contrasting skid plate. In profile and at the back, things remain more or less unchanged. Also part of the update is a new alloy wheel design.

On the inside, the Nexon continues to be spacious with its well laid out cabin. You’ve got a revised instrument cluster with an all-digital readout. The floating infotainment screen gets mobile connectivity features as well. Apart from the new upholstery, the Nexon’s updated cabin also packs in new equipment to get it up to the mark with the competition. This includes a sunroof, fast mobile charger, rain-sensing wipers and cruise control to name a few.

In terms of powertrain, the Tata Nexon facelift is powered by BS6 compliant versions of the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and the 1.5-litre diesel engine. Transmission options include a six-speed manual gearbox and an automated manual transmission for both engines.

The Tata Nexon is a rival the other compact SUVs like the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport, Honda WR-V and the Mahindra XUV300. Future rivals include the Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger and the Kia Sonet.

4.Ford EcoSport

Ford EcoSport price starts at ₹ 8.19 Lakh and goes upto ₹ 11.70 Lakh. The price of Petrol version for EcoSport ranges between ₹ 8.19 Lakh - ₹ 11.40 Lakh and the price of Diesel version for EcoSport ranges between ₹ 8.89 Lakh - ₹ 11.70 Lakh.

The new Ford EcoSport has been launched with more features over its predecessor. Ford EcoSport is available in six trims – Ambient, Trend, Titanium, Titanium+, EcoSport S and the Thunder Edition. The newly introduced feature-loaded Thunder Edition is based on the Titanium variant and it replaces the Signature trim. The updated model is available in both petrol and diesel engine options.

Engine

Mechanically the new Ford EcoSport continues to be powered by the existing 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.0-litre EcoBoost continues to be offered in the EcoSport S trim as well. The EcoSport range is available with a five-speed or a six-speed manual transmission along with a six-speed automatic transmission option in the petrol version.

Exterior

The updated EcoSport gets automatic HID headlamps, daytime running lights, electrochromic mirror and rain sensing wipers. The vehicle also gets distinctive highlights like dark inserts on the headlamp cluster and a prominent black treatment to the fog lamp bezel. Additionally, it gets 17-inch alloy wheels, and a dark theme throughout the exterior, which includes black-painted front grille and rear-view mirrors; dual-tone bonnet and decals on doors.

Interior

Except for the entry level variant, all other variants get a touchscreen-based infotainment system with embedded navigation. The Thunder Edition abundant use of cognac accents across multiple surfaces – from front seats to door inserts as well as centre console and instrument panel. The variant further gets a nine-inch floating touchscreen system with embedded navigation.

Renault Duster price starts at ₹ 9.84 Lakh and goes upto ₹ 14.25 Lakh. The price of Petrol version for Duster ranges between ₹ 9.84 Lakh - ₹ 14.25 Lakh.

The Renault Duster turbo-petrol variant has been launched in India, with prices ranging from Rs 10.49 lakh to Rs 13.59 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom, all India). The model is available in five trims across MT and CVT variants. The Duster turbo-petrol, which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020, is powered by a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine.

Under the hood of the Renault Duster turbo-petrol variant is a 1.3-litre engine producing 154bhp and 254Nm of torque. Transmission options include a six-speed manual transmission and a CVT unit, with the latter also featuring a seven-speed manual mode. These variants return a claimed fuel efficiency of 16.5kmpl and 16.42kmpl respectively.

Changes to the exterior of the Renault Duster turbo-petrol variant includes Crimson Red accents on the grille, front bumper, roof rails, fog lamp cluster and tail-gate embellisher. Also on offer are body coloured ORVMs, new 17-inch alloy wheels and black roof rails.

Inside, the Renault Duster turbo-petrol version comes equipped with a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and voice recognition, cruise control, Arkamys sourced four speaker and two tweeter music system, engine start-stop button. Safety features on the model include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, speed alert system, seat belt reminder, reverse parking camera, ESP and hill start assist.

• Nexon also has xpress cooling function which cools down the temperature inside car in just 8 minutes with certain condition.
• Nexon provides AC vent both front and rear for passengers with two speed adjustment. Although it is not very suitable for three adults at back but a child upto 15 years can come in middle comfortably.
• Nexon provides big boot space of 350 liters and can accommodate large amount of things.
