OBJECTIVE:
Benchmark with presently available cars in the market for the following case.
Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii is a married man who lives in Bangalore which is a highly crowded city. His Family comprises five members including his wife, five-year-old boy, his father, and his mother. He visits his native place Madurai which is 500kms away from Bangalore once in a month. Also, he will be using his car to commute to his office. His budget falls between 8 to 10 lakhs on road. Please suggest to him with options so that he will buy a good car for his family.

BENCHMARKING:
Benchmarking is a way of discovering what is the best performance being achieved – whether in a particular company, by a competitor or by entirely different industry. This information can then be used to identify gaps in an originations processes to achieve a competitive advantage.

Benchmarking as a Tool:

Before undertaking a benchmarking opportunity, it is important to have a through understanding of the company’s guidelines. Some companies have strict guidelines as to what information can be gathered, and whom practitioners can contact to get that information. Depending on the size of the company, practitioners may be surprised at what is readily available in-house.
Benchmarking is not just a matter of making inquires to other companies or touring and documenting another company’s facilities or processes. When making use of benchmarking, a company should not limit the scope to its industry, nor should benchmark be a one-time event.
Three Primary Classifications of Benchmarking
Although there are many forms of benchmarking, they can be classified three categories – internal, competitive and strategic.
Internal benchmarking is used when a company already has established and proven best practices and they simply need to share them. Again, depending on the size of the company, it may be large enough to represent a broad range of performance (i.e., cycle time for opening new account in branches coast to coast). Internal benchmarking also may be necessary if comparable industries are not readily available.
Competitive benchmarking is used when a company wants to evaluate its position whining its industry. Also, competitive benchmarking is used when a company needs to identify industry leadership performance targets.
Strategic benchmarking is used when identifying and analysing world-class performance. This form of benchmarking is used most when a company needs to go outside of its industry.

Thus, based on the requirement of Mr.D.S. Pughazhyendii, I would like to suggest him to buy “TATA NEXON”. Because as mentioned above that Mr.D.S. Pughazhyendii is fond of big cars, “TATA NEXON” has a height 1606 of mm, which is a big height for 5-seater car. This car can also commute long drive as it has driving range upto 765.6 km and fuel capacity of 44 litres.
Why TATA NEXON XE?
While the Nexon secured four stars (13.56/17) the first time it was crash tested, Tata upgraded all variants of the compact SUV with a seat-belt reminder for the driver and front passenger (which has since become mandatory) and sent it in for Round 2.
