1.When choosing a car that's best suited for a family of 5 living in Bangalore city, there are a few factors to consider. Some of the most important considerations include:

  1. Space: You will want a car that has enough room for 5 people & their luggage.
  2. Fuel Efficiency: As informed family lives in Bangalore which is a crowded place, Fuel efficient car will save money over time.
  3. Safety features: Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendii and his family comprising of 5 members so safety is a prior concern. Therefore he should look for features like air bags, ABS and stability control.
  4. Comfort: He visits his native place once in a month which is 500kms from bangalore. He should look for comfort feature too. A comfortable car will make long trip pleasant one.

Based on the factors I would recommend the Honda Amaze , Mahindra XUV 300, Tata Altroz or Toyota Glanza .

The Honda Amaze is known for its spacious interior and comfortable ride while the Mahindra XUV300 is a compact SUV that offers a good balance of space, fuel efficiency and safety features .

The Honda Amaze – INR 6.24lacs

Mahindra XUV 300 – IINR 8.30Lacs

Tata Altroz – INR 5.44lacs

BENCHMARKING

Benchmarking in Automobile Industry is a structured comparison between similar kind of cars, processes or services which are already available in the market.

This is helpful for Design Engineer to eliminate all shortcomings and add additional features in the parent car design keeping the cost in margin, hence designing better performing car.

Carry over study

Benchmarking II

Benchmarking I (Car Level)

This is a process of surveying or studying of similar models of cars already available in the market. And determining what additional features I can add to my car.

Then as a Design Engineer I will decide What Additional feature of what shortcomings I need to eliminate. I will make the Concept of the Car.

Concept Preparation

Preparing concept like 4 seater or 2 seater, entry level sedan or SUV. If my new car will have SUN Roof then what module of Sun Roof it will be best suited.

Carry over study

For every 1st Generation car there is a parent car. If I am developing a car I will compare to its parent model car and remove all the negative points of the Car and I will study what positive features are in parent car I can carry over to my new car design.

Benchmarking II (Part Level – Detail benchmarking)

It is complete detail Benchmarking stage. Like comparison of particular module like roof, doors or hood. For e.g. comparing my new car designed roof and the competitor car company roof.

It consist of comparison of material, thickness, no. of parts and complete weight of the part.
