OBJECTIVE
The main objective of this project is to Design a 3D model of an Sheet Metal Bracket using Siemens NX Sheetmetal Application
INTRODUCTION
Sheet metal is metal formed by an industrial process into thin, flat pieces. Sheet metal is one of the fundamental forms used in metalworking, and it can be cut and bent into a variety of shapes. Countless everyday objects are fabricated from sheet metal. Thicknesses can vary significantly, extremely thin sheets are considered foil or leaf, and pieces thicker than 6 mm (0.25 in) are considered Plate steel or Structural steel.
DESIGN METHODOLOGY
- Designing Sheetmetal Bracket
DESCRIPTION
FEATURES USED
SKETCH
Sketch is a 2D drawing used to create a 3D part. In the sketch there are many tools like Line, Rectangle, Circle, Point, etc.. required to create a complete drawing.
CONTOUR FLANGE
Contour flange command is used to create a flange as per given 2D profile with some thickness.
UNBENDING
Unbending command is used to create a flat sheet metal piece of the whole part.
HOLE
hole command use to create a hole on one or more solid bodies in a part.
BEADS
Bead command is used to create an indentation in the sheet metal part using a sketched section as the bead out line.
REBENDING
Rebending command is used to bend the flat sheet metal part appered after the unbending process to get back into original shape.
STEP BY STEP PROCESS
First the sketch is prepared by drawing a profile in XY plane as shown in figure below.

Now the contour Flange Feature is selected and used to the above profile created.

Now an another sketch is made for a normal cut out.
