What will you do in this project?

In this project, you will work on an Automotive Tail lamp assembly. You will perform the following steps in this project

  • A-surface given by the styling team is not always smooth or behaves to surface operations properly, that's why the first step is to analyze the A-surface
  • As soon as the surface quality is fixed, you need to create the B surface and then start making the welding track and by doing draft analysis simultaneously   
  • The draft analysis will get defined by defining the tooling direction with respect to the welding track.
  • Now you will move on to create the reflectors for the bulb. The number and position of the bulb is determined by following the ECE regulations.
  • Once the welding track and the reflector creation is completed, you will create the housing vertical and horizontal sections which intern followed by how the housing design proceeds
  • After creating the sections housing A-surface and B-surface are created  with respect to the reflectors 
  • One the Housing is created you will optimize the housing design bu add ribs and other features for increasing its strength and mounting of the tail lamp
  • Now all the parts in a tail lamp are assembled and a sample wiring harness is prepared
  • After completing the assembly you will check your design with the ECE regulations 
  • And Assembly drawing and the child part drawing will be prepared with BOM

Designing of an Automotive Tail-lamp

This is a project where the design of an automotive is done from scratch. This project includes first a detailed explanation of the concepts related to lighting reflection and various vehicle types and ECE regulations. Then the regulations considered in designing the reflectors and the lighting unit are explained in detail with appropriate images. After covering all the concepts related to lighting and the lighting parameters, the modeling of the tail-lamp will start. First, the Lens plastic part is prepared with a welding track through which the design of the housing begins. After designing Housing with the surrounding data provided, a sample wiring harness is prepared. The complete assembly of housing, lens, and all the child parts is prepared for creating the assembly drawing and child part drawings. In this project, the concepts of plastic product design, lighting, Advanced surface molding, data important to mention while preparing the drawing and basics of the wiring harness is covered.
