Computational fluid dynamics is an interdisciplinary study that impacts both science and the industry. And considering how industries are adapting a computational analysis led design & development process, CFD has a lot of scope. Using CFD, engineers solve mechanical problems by numerical approximation methods. The result is that we are able to obtain an approximate answer efficiently in a less amount of time, as compared to traditional analytical methods which involve accurate results but take up a prolonged amount of time.
It is well known that Germany is the center of attraction for mechanical engineers worldwide, given its many universities and manufacturers. Students graduating from German universities have a multitude of options before them in terms of employment. If you are looking forward to studying CFD in Germany, we have put a little list for you. (The order doesn’t denote any ranking)
Computational Mechanics – This course provides extensive knowledge in computational mechanics and covers a wide area including FEM, structural dynamics, advanced computational methods, continuum mechanics, hydro-mechanics etc.
Computational Science and Engineering – This course covers topics such as scientific computing and numerical methods. The student then focuses on learning to program engineering problems computationally.
The academia at TUM has joined with Integrative Research Centers to concentrate on specialized and interdisciplinary research. The Munich School of Engineering (MSE) works on projects related to mechanical and computational engineering.
Computer-aided conception and production in Mechanical Engineering – This course will encourage the students to use computer-aided simulation techniques for solving mechanical engineering problems.
Simulation Sciences – Simulation sciences deal with two aspects: basic methodological principles like numerical sciences and application of computer simulation in areas in engineering. The program will first impart basic knowledge to students before they can choose their area of expertise – physics or engineering.
Some of the labs at RWTH that work on projects related to computational engineering include:
Computational Methods in Engineering – The students will learn how to apply their theoretical knowledge in mathematics and information technology to engineering tasks and complex, practical problems.
The institutes at Leibniz that are dedicated to working on fluid mechanics and numeric mechanics include:
Computational Engineering (CE) – This is an interdisciplinary expertise in computational sciences, applied mathematics, and engineering. This course is designed to train the learners on how to model engineering problems in terms of math and solve them computationally.
Some of the labs at FAU Erlanger Nurnberg that research on projects related to computational engineering include:
Computational Sciences in Engineering – This program also focuses on training students to simulate engineering problems. They will learn to perform complex numerical analyses of engineering problems.
Computational Materials Science – The “Computational Materials Scientists” course is aimed at training the students to become top players in the industrial R&D sector. In this course, theoretical concepts will be demonstrated to learners through cutting-edge research projects.
The students at TU Bergakademie can work in the following labs on projects relates to Computational science:
Computational Science and Engineering – The aim of this study is to train candidates to perform simulations of technical and natural systems by imparting to them, a thorough knowledge of numerical methods. This course offers three areas of specialization:
Some of the scientific institutes in the University of Rostock that work in areas related to computational engineering include:
Computational Engineering – This course focuses on areas such as structural engineering, FEA, Computational fluid Mechanics etc. that are required for designing and analyzing high-tech engineering systems. Some of the labs at this institute that work in areas related to engineering are:
Computational Mechanics of Materials and Structures – This course is concerned with the simulation of advanced engineering problems by giving the students a good theoretical base and analytical skills with respect to simulation techniques in applied and computational mechanics. The students learn to solve problems involving complex geometries, structures, and material responses. The Materials Science Laboratory at the University of Stuttgart is involved in computational mechanics research.
As an institute that has trained over 2500 students, we would say that specializing in CFD after completing your mechanical engineering is one of the best choices you can make for your career. The reason being that CFD is a fast-growing sector and it is highly expected to replace prototyping in a not-so-distant future.
Here at Skill-Lync, we specialize in training our students in areas related to computational mechanics, especially CFD. Learning at Skill-Lync has helped students secure admits in German universities by working on industry level projects. You can watch one of our student testimonial here to understand how Skill-Lync made a huge impact in the life of Krishnan:
If you wish to secure funded admit to universities like the ones here, all you have to do is enroll with us and complete the projects in our coursework. These projects can help you get a funded admit/scholarship when you transfer abroad.
