Week 01 - Introduction to CFD and SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation

Week 02 - Steady-state Simulation of a Pipe Flow

  • Simulating flow through a pipe is a classical CFD problem.
  • It offers insight into the various inputs that go into running a CFD simulation.
  • Introduction to parametric studies and grid dependency test.
  • Understand the concepts of global maxima and global minima.

Week 03 - Transient Flow Simulation of Flow over a Cylinder

  • You will be introduced to the concepts of external simulation and transient analysis.
  • You will be learning how to calculate the total flow time and output time step.

Week 03 - Flow Over an Airfoil

  • Simulate the flow over a 2D NACA airfoil
  • Calculate the drag and lift forces for the various angles of attacks.

Week 04 - Flow over an IC Engine Valve

  • Perform transient analysis at different valve lifts
  • Create a plot of lift vs mass flow rate

Week 05 - Flow-through a Simple Centrifugal Pump

  • You will be introduced to the concept of moving reference frame while also learning about the rotating body feature in SOLIDWORKS.
  • Use the MRF approach to simulate flow through a Centrifugal pump
  • Plot a pump performance curve
