Skill-Lync course selection help

The dream of most mechanical engineers is to get a job in their core branch company. But the problem is, they do not know their domain of interest or which field they are most passionate about learning.

It is impossible to create a career in mechanical engineering or any other branch without understanding the path ahead of you and your line of interest. If you don't love the subject you are studying, you cannot make progress in that field.

As a graduating or recently graduated mechanical engineer, you should get specialized in your area of interest. As such, most students who aren't aware of their domain of interest yet, aren't sure about the Skill-Lync course that they need to enroll in. Read on to find out.

Which Skill-Lync Course Should You Enroll in If You Do Not Know Your Domain of Interest?

As a student of mechanical engineering, you might be interested in some subjects and wanted to discuss or read about them more than others. Some students naturally drift towards fluid dynamics or thermodynamics, whereas others prefer design-oriented topics such as solid and surface modeling.

After careful thought, we have divided mechanical engineering into four different branches of interest, using most students' favorite theory subjects and correlate them to a practical working environment.

1. Computational Fluid Dynamics or CFD-Based Courses:

Are you interested in the following subjects?

  • Fluid Mechanics: The study of fluid behavior at rest and in motion
  • Thermodynamics: The study of the relationship between the various forms of energy and heat
  • Heat and Mass Transfer: The study of the transfer of heat and mass from one body to another
  • Gas Propulsion: The study of using gases to produce thrust and other forces to move a body forward using reaction force

If you are more interested in learning these four subjects or topics, then you should enroll in the CFD-based courses. In the courses based on Computational Fluid Dynamics or CFD, you will learn about the numerical solution of equations governing fluid flows. These courses can be very beneficial if you like the above topics.

Some Skill-Lync courses you can sign up for based on CFD are:

  • CFD using MATLAB and OpenFOAM
  • Advanced CFD using ANSYS Fluent
  • Aerodynamics using Converge
  • IC engine using Converge
  • IC engine simulation using Converge
  • Computational Combustion using Python and Cantera

Moreover, if you are exceptionally good at math, in addition to the above topics, you may also take up MATLAB or OpenFOAM or Python courses.

2. Finite Element Analysis or FEA-Based Courses:

Are you interested in the following subjects or topics?

  • Strength of Materials: The study of the behavior of solid objects subject to stresses and strains
  • Design of Machine Elements: The design of a machine or structure using engineering techniques and principles
  • Finite Element Analysis: The study of how a material or design reacts to real-world conditions
  • Vibrations: The study of the movement of a body after an external force is applied to it

If you are more interested in learning these four subjects or topics, then you should enroll in the FEA-based courses. In the courses based on FEA, you will learn about the computerized tools and methods used to analyze how a material or design reacts to real-world conditions.

If mathematics is not your forte, here are some FEA-based courses that you can enroll in Skill-Lync:

  • Preprocessor for Structural Analysis using ANSA
  • Preprocessing using HyperMesh
  • Automation using ANSYS Workbench

And if you are good at math, then you can learn these courses:

  • FEA using LS-DYNA
  • MATLAB and Python courses
  • ANSYS Workbench
  • ANSYS ICEPAK
  • Crashworthiness Analysis

3. Design-Based Courses

Are you interested in the design of machines or engineering graphics? If yes, then design-based courses will be suitable for you. Design in engineering is where engineers combine science, math, technology, and creativity to develop a design for a new and better product.

If you are a student interested in design and look forward to work in a design-based company, you should learn about these topics:

  • Advanced sheet metal design
  • Plastic modeling
  • Surface modeling
  • Solid modeling
  • Sheet metal modeling
  • BIW design
  • BIW Fixture design

In addition, you can also benefit from learning about the following software programs:

  • SolidWorks
  • CATIA
  • NX CAD

All of these are good platforms, but CATIA and NX CAD are mostly used in industries nowadays.

4. Multibody Dynamics or MBD-Based Courses

If you're not interested in any of the above topics, then it is most likely that you are interested in multibody dynamics (MBD). People who like to learn about robotics, kinematics, or vehicle dynamics should enroll in a course based on MBD.

MBD is referred to as the analysis of the way mechanical systems move when it is influenced by forces. If you are interested in these topics, then you need to do the following courses:

  • MBD using motion view and motion solve
  • MSC Adams vehicle dynamics

How Can Skill-Lync Courses Help You?

Once you figure out your area of expertise and line of interest, you can easily go for a career that will benefit you in the long run. However, since the theoretical world is a lot different from the practical one, you will need to gain knowledge applicable in the real-world as well as skills that propel your career forward.

The courses from Skill-Lync are designed in a way that is fairly easy to understand, even for people with little perception in the field. Moreover, since the courses value real-world knowledge and experience, it is the perfect way to gain expertise in the skills that the industry demands. The courses also promote you to think like a professional in the field and to apply logic and reasoning with clear concepts and understanding.

Conclusion

In order to build a successful, exciting, and fulfilling career, you must first determine your area of interest.

However, students often do not know which path to choose since the theory world and practical skills may differ. Moreover, students are not aware of the industry and their needs and expectations from the various fields.

Hence, to build a solid grasp of the current demands, one must choose courses from a course provider like Skill-Lync, which focuses on teaching real-world concepts and nurture them into becoming a professional.
