Wiring harness routing & packaging Rules Week 3 Challenge

CLAMP:

The following important parameters are required to be defined.

  • Entry point and plane.
  • Exit point and plane.
  • Base plane.

First, get or create the clip 3d part then Define the geometry parameters next define the part as support next define the entry point and plane finally define the base and exit plane.

P-Clamp:

Furr Tree clip:

Stick Clamp:

BACKSHELL:

  • Backshells are plastic molded parts used at the wire entry side of connectors either for protection or to improve the aesthetics /appearance of harnesses.
  • These are not mandatory parts of wiring harnesses are always optional and driven by cost.

Defining Back Shell:

  • Get the back shell 3d part.
  • Define the geometry parameters.
  • Define part as backshell.
  • Backshell connection point.
  • Define bundle connection point.

Backshell and connector Assembly:

CORRUGATED TUBE:

  • Corrugated tubes, convolutes, sleeves, and many other types of coverings are used to protect the wiring harness.
  • Graphical representations of coverings are applied on bundles.

Following are images of different coverings.

  • cotton tapping.
  • plastic tapping.

Protective Covering:

  • create covering 3D part.
  • create a catalog for coverings.
  • Add a new part to Catalogue.
  • Apply covering on the harness bundle from the catalog.

CREATE CATALOG:

  • Create a catalog file for different sizes of corrugated tubes 5,10,15,20,35mm.
  • The catalog is a library to save or store any size of corrugated tube used without creating a new tube.
