Wiring harness routing & packaging Rules Week 3 Challenge
1. Defining P clamp cad model as an electrical part.
Ans.)
P clamp is a commonly used clamping device to fix wire bundles on to any given surface. Normally screws or clips are used to fix the clamp to surface. It will include a metallic part for strength and a rubber part as cover. bundle can be passed through either side of the clamp.
Given cad model from TE.com

Creating entry/exit planes and base plane of the clamp.:

Defining the clamp as an electrical support:
Using Define support tool, define the entry and exit planes and the base plane.

The given clamp can be used in either ways to mount the tubes. So the entry and exit planes can be used interchangably.
For this application, we can define the clamp one more time defining the opposite enty/exit planes.

2. Defining Backshell:
Ans.)
A backshell is a device fitted into the rear of an electrical connector. ... Backshells protect the electrical connector and the cable link from physical stress (strain, shock, vibration) as well as electromagnetic interference. These are also useful in guiding and supporting the connection points between bundle and connector.
Given model:

Creating Axis system on the mounting plane as per the orientation of connector:

Backshell definition: (Define backshell tool)

Defining Backshell connection point for connector:

Storing the electrical data into a catalogue:

3. Creating Protetion tubes for electrical wire protection.
Tube specifications:

Ans.)
Corrugated tubes/ Coverings/sleeves are protection coverings provided along the bundle length. Different budle segments will have protection tubes with different diameters. These are usually flexible plastic componenets
Step 1. Creating a new part in electrical part design workbench.
Step 2. Use the define protection part tool to define the part as a corrugated tube of the given diameter:

It will create a new 3d cylindrical part with the given diameter as a rib.

This is the representation of corrugated tube as a electrically defined part.
When we use this part in a wiring bundle as protection part, the length will be adjusted according to the harness.
Step 3. Adding this into a catalogue family called Slit_COT as a conduit part.
Use the device storage tool to add this part into a new catalogue.
Step 4. Similarly made the tubes in different diameters and add them also into the catalogue.
