Wiring harness design in CATIA V5 - 3D modeling Week 7 Challenge

Q1. Flatten the harness assembly completed in “ week 4 challenge”. Place the flattened view on drawing sheet. Ensure bundles with protective coverings has different visuals on drawing view.

BEFORE FLATTENING

STEP 1:

Create a new product file and go to the Electrical Harness Flattening for wire harness flattening option and save it in the same location where product for flattening is store.

STEP 2:

select Harness flattening parameters and open assembled part in new window. To import the product first click on the extract button in the flattening product, then go to actual product file and click on the final product(top left corner). The product gets imported for flattening.

STEP 3:

Click on flatten command and for Active plane selection click on connector face and click ok. so our product is flattened

AFTER FLATTENING

NOTE:

While defining the harness flattening parameters in the drawing menu single line is selected for bundle segment and double line is selected for protective coverings in order to differentiate between the wire bundle and cot tubes in drafting.

STEP 4:

create a new drawing and save the file. Select front view and go back to flattened model and select on the flat surface of the connector and then select all the bundles and click ok. A 2D representation is seen left click on the sheet to fix the image, now add the documentation details and the image as Jpg for others to acess as a drawing
