Challenge

Wiring harness design in CATIA V5 - 3D modeling Week 5 & 6 Challenge

Downloaded all the connectors and all the connectors are electrically defined and the respective harness assemblies i.e Harness A and Harness B are prepared separately.

Both the assemblies are pasted in the same product file i.e, Harness A-B.

The connection is between Connector 5 of Harness B and Connector 6 of Harness A.

By using Connect Electrical Devices in Electrical Assembly Design workbench and selecting the mating parts, connection between both the product files i.e Harness B and Harness A is achieved.

Bundle Continuity check is carried out in-order to check the perfect connection between all the branches and assemblies by selecting Edit > Search > under Advanced tab >Choose Electrical under Workbench dropdown, Bundle Segment in Type and Fully Connected in Attribute.

Need to select True, to get to know the fully connected list. False, to get to know the non connected.

Below is the SS of True condition and the list of fully connected bundles and branches.

Annotation has been added to all the connectors based on the nomenclature provided in the image with Harness B and Harness A layout.

First need to switch to Assembly Design Workbench and Annotation plane is defined, later Flag Note with leader is selected and by choosing the connector point or surface the corresponding name is defined in the annotation box.

No bundle warning are observed as theres no error show in the model tree as shown in above SS.

Finally after the assembly is saved, In Assembly Design Workbench Tools > Generate CATpart from product > Choose the assembly from model tree. To save the file in CAT.part file format.

Once the CAT.part file is open, File > save as > select .igs in file format > save.
