Wiring harness design in CATIA V5 - 3D modeling Week 4 Challenge
WIRING HARNESS DESIGN IN CATIA V5 - 3D MODELING WEEK 4 CHALLENAGE :
IN THIS REPORT:
- Routing the following harness layout in Electrical workbench and Using connectors as shown in layout diagram.
- Adding protective covering on all branches connected to DT06-2S & DT06-4S connectors. (end extremity at 30mm)
ROUTING THE FOLLOWING HARNESS LAYOUT INN ELECTRICAL WORKBENCH AND USING CONNECTORS AS SHOWN IN LAYOUTY DIAGRAM:
- First, Download connector 3D data from www.te.com

- DT06-6S
- DT06-2S
- DT06-08SA
- Define all connectors, mechanical part into electrical part and create a catalog for the connectors and save.
- create a product tree structure like this,
- now, we work in the GEOMETRICAL BUNDLE ASSY. product for the locators possitioing and routing, applying supports.
- Define the Product into Electrical Product, using the Geometrical Bundle command in Electrical Harness Assembly workbench.
- then, add the connectors to the product from the catalog, based on requirement.
- I create a reference diagram of layout diagram for perfect fixation in shown location.
- using Move Toolbar commands to fix the connectors at the locations mentioned in the layout diagram.
- now, use Multi Branchable Document command in product and create a main Branch using Branch Definition and split the branch for sub branch using Add Branch Point then use Branch Definition for Sub Branch creation. Main branches is 12mm dia and sub branches are 7mm dia.
ADDING PROTECTIVE COVERINNG ON ALL BRANCHES CONNECTED TO DT06-2S & DT06-4S CONNECTORS. (end extremity at 30mm):
- In Electrical Part Design workbench, Create a corrugated tubes and tapes as required dimensions and save them into specific catalog. tapes are don"t have a specific dimension.
- Electrical Harness Assembly, now add covering, using Protective Covering command and select the branches then pick the COT Tubes from catalog.
