Wiring harness design in CATIA V5 - 3D modeling Week 4 Challenge

Objective:- The objective of this project is to route the harness layout in electrical workbench.

Steps to be followed:

1. The given connectors were downloaded from the www.te.com

• DT06-4S
• DT06-6S
• DT06-2S
• DT06-08SA

Completely define the geometrical and electrical parameters of all connectors in the electrical part design workbench in CATIA V5.

2. Convecting the Mechanical part into the Electrical part for that I had followed the following steps.

The following was defined for all the connectors:

• Connector connection point
• bundle connection point
• axis system at the connector connection point
• define all the connectors as electrical components

The connectors were assembled as the given diagram.

Creating Multi-Branching to the connectors

• Creating Bundle segments and branching points between the connectors. First create bundle segment between the connectors DT06-8S and DT06-6S.Here assumed harness bundle diameter as 10mm.

• Then create the branch points and add the segments to join the two DT06-4S and DT06-2S connectors.Here assumed harness bundle diameter as 7mm.

checking as per Layout

Orient and locate all the connectors approximately in the required location in assembly workbench.

Protective coverings were added to the harness assembly.

• Here corrogated tube diameter kept as 15mm as the harness bundle diameter is 10mm.And as shown in the above diagram end extremity is at 30mm away from the bundle entry point.
