INTRODUCTION TO WIRE HARNESS

DEFINING ELECTRIC PARAMETER FLOW CHART

CONNECTOR DEFINITION IN CATIA V5:-

1. DEUTSCH DT06-08SA

Connector connection point:

Create a midpoint on the contact face which will be formed will be normal to wire bundle insertion.

Create an axis system with respect to the point that we have created and define the axis direction as shown below:

Bundle connection point:

Switch to 'Electrical Part Design'

Define the part as a connector in catia, give the no. of termination as 8 because we have 8 entries.

Define Bundle connection point.

Define connector connection point.

2. Tyco 174357-2:

• Create midpoint
• Create a Connector connection point.
• Create a Connector connection axis system.
• Create a Cavity connection point.
• Create a cavity connection axis system.
• Switch to the Electric part design and define the part as a connector.
• Define the Connector connection point and cavity connection point.

3. Tyco 85229-1:

Create midpoint

Create a cavity connection point

Create a cavity connection axis system and the orientation should be the same as in the connector.

Switch to an Electric part design and define the part as mounting equipment.

Define cavity connection point.

Electric Assembly Design:

Import Connector and cavity/mounting clip.

Select Defing Electric connection.

Select cavity and then connector.
