Wiring harness design in CATIA V5 - 3D modeling Week 2 Challenge

  •  Wiring harness design in CATIA V5 - 3D modeling Week 2 Challlenge

                     AIM:-

Download following connectors & Connector clip cad data from given link & define it as Electrical Connector using Electrical Part design Workbench. Define all the necessary properties to Connectors & Clip.

  1. Deutsch DT06 – 08SA ( https://www.te.com/usa-en/product-DT06-08SA.html)
  2. Tyco 174357-2 (https://www.te.com/usa-en/product-2-174357-2.html?source=header-match)
  3. Tyco 85229-1  (https://www.te.com/usa-en/product-85229-1.html?q=85229&source=header

1] Deutsch DT06 – 08SA

1. Connector connection point:-

A] Created midpoint on the contact face which will be normal to wire bunddle insertion.

B] Craeted Axis System with respect to the point which we have created and defining the axis direction .

  1. Y-axis towards the front face of the connector.
  2. X-axis towards the locking mechanism.
  3. Z-axis towards the pointing across the connector left to right.

2. Bundle connection point:-

3. Switch to 'Electric Part Design

Define the part as connector in catia, give no. of termination as 8 because we have 8 entry points for wire.

4.Define as a electrical

5] Define Bundle connection point

6] Define connector connection point.

2.Tyco 174357-2 :-

Like a 1st connector this connector also has define all neccessary all properties as follows:

  • Create midpoint
  • create Connector connection point
  • create Connector connection axis system
  • create cavity connection point
  • create cavity connection axis system
  • Switch to Electric part design and define part as connector
  • Define Connector connection point and cavity connection point

3. Tyco 85229-1 :-

  • Just like 1st & 2nd connector has define with all properties the mounting clip as follows:
  1. Create midpoint
  2. create cavity connection point
  3. create cavity connection axis system and orientation should be same as in connector
  4. Switch to Electric part design and define part as Mounting Equipment
  5. Define cavity connection point

  • Electric Assembly Design:
  1. Import Connector and cavity / mounting clip.
  2. Select Defing Eelectric connection
  3. select cavity and then connector.

CONCLUSION-

Both the connectors and the clip were defined as an electrical connector and electrical mounting equipment respectively. All the necessary electrical and geometrical properties were given to the parts.
