Week 9- Unsteady moving zones Approach

Aim:

  1. To Simulate the motion of blades in a generic turbomachinery component using an unsteady approach.

Case-setup & Boundary Conditions:

Pressure-Based unsteady solver.

Viscous Model K-e model realizable

We first have to run a few iterations for using the moving frame approach then we have to append the different regions (stationary, rotational frames) and set up the transient case.

We have check the interfaces have been properly matched in the Mesh interfaces tab.

In the cell zone for rotational frame select mesh motion and provide a rotational speed of 300 RPM.

Pressure inlet and Pressure outlet with 0 Pa

Second-Order UPWIND scheme for discretization is needed with Courant number set to 10.

T = 60/N

Where N =300 RPM then T =0.2

for dt = 2e-3 we will have to run the simulation for 1000 time steps.
