Week 9 - Project 1 - Door Applique Design with Engineering Features

Creation Of locaters and Heat Stakes.

1. Creation of tooling Axis.

The class A surface does not have complex geometry.

Create a point on the class A surface, and create a line with the reference surface it will be the tooling axis.

Class B creation:

For the class, b extracted the surface, untrimmed it and offset by 2.5mm (thickness of part)

Trim the surface for the required shape.

Given the fillet according to the requirement.

Class C creation:

Extract the boundary of class and sweep it along with the tooling axis and give a draft of the 3 degrees.

extrapolate these sweeps and then trim them.

Join the trimmed sweep with class A.

Trim this join with the class B which is drawn previously, it will give a closed profile.

Creation of plastic body:

Go to the part workbench and give thickness with help of the closed surface option.

Creation of locators:

Draw a 4-way locator on the one edge and pad it.

Give a draft of 0.5 degrees to these locaters.

A chamfer of 3 mm is given for entry.

Unitrim the locators with the body.

Thicken the surface by 2mm.

Creation of locaters:

Draw two circles with dia 5 and 7.

Pad it.

Draw the ribs for the heat stake according to design rules.

Holes on the surface.

Give holes on the surface for the assembly.

Give the flat surface for the heat stakes.
