Week 8 - Challenge 4 - Coin Holder Design

Coin Holder

First Cheak the quality of class A by putting the boundary on the surface.

Tooling Axis Creation

1. Extract the bottom face and create a point on the surface, on that point create the axis system use this axis system to intersect class A with the YZ plane.

The walls are at 90 degrees so we have to create the tooling axis perpendicular to the extracted surface.

Class B Creation

1. Extract the walls from class A and untrim them and then offset by 2.5mm because the thickness of the part is 2.5mm.

Extract bottom surface, inclined surface and patch walls and do the same as done to the walls.

Use multiple extract for the upper walls and then extrapolate them as required.

Give fillets to the walls ( for fillet add thickness for outside fillets and reduce thickness for inner fillets)

Trim the surface as required.

use multiple extract for the outside walls also extrapolate them in the upward direction.

Extract the small face which is remaining and untrim it and extrapolate it for trimming it with class B.

Class C Creation

For class-c use multiple extract on outside walls and use the boundary of that surface for sweep command.

in the sweep give type with a reference surface and select the extracted surface for the reference give the length of the sweep 4-5mm.

Do the same procedure for the inner boundary. And join it with the Class A it will be the class-c surface

Now trim the joined surface with Class B.

Draft Analysis:

Do the draft analysis on the surface along the tooling axis.

Creation of the plastic component.

Use the close surface option to thicken the part.
