Week 8 - Challenge 1 - Draft Analysis on a Fan Cover

Draft:  Draft is given to the component for easy removal of the component from the mold after cooling.

For the plastic components, the 3-degree draft is nominal and for supporting elements the minimum draft value is 0.5 degrees and for the textured surface, it can be given up to 7 degrees.

Draft Analysis: Draft Analysis is the tool that is used to analyze the given draft is manufacturable or not.

Steps of Tooling Axis creation:

1. Check the boundary of the surface to make sure there is no gap between to surfaces.

2.Decide the direction of the tooling axis: (it should clear in that direction)

X & Y are not suitable, Z is selected as tooling direction.

3. Create a new geometrical set in that create a point for the construction.

4.Create an axis system at point 1 and make sure that it is not current.

5. Intersect the ZX place with the component then we will get two lines.

6. Create a line along z-direction:( Dummy Tooling Axis)

7. Create a point-point line on the face that may cause problems.

8. Create a bisecting line for these two lines using the Bisecting type from the line using the point as support.

9. Do this same for the ZY direction.

10. Publish the tooling axis.

11. choose material in customize view parameters.

12. Insert feature draft analysis.

13. Align the compass to the tooling axis.

14. Make minimum Draft 3 degree in the Draft analysis if it is shoeing the faces green then it is ok for designing. you can vary that value according to the draft value according to the component.
