Week 9 - Project 1 - Door Applique Design with Engineering Features

Door Applique Design with Engineering features

Aim: Aim: To create the locators and heat stakes according to the engineering features explained and considering the given design considerations using the extracted Class A surface given.

Objective: To understand the engineering features and design considerations for door applique and performing the draft analysis of the final two components.

Design methodology and considerations.

First of all, tooling direction is created and then the given class A parts are thickened to 2.5 mm.

After that a four-way locater sketch is created and then it is thickened followed by the drafting of 0.5 degree.

The four-way located is copied and pasted with special in link and the part is translated to the other side as well.

After that a two-way locater sketch is created on the other side of four-way locater at the mid.

Parallel curve through the edges is taken and various points are created in the extracted inner surface

The inner surface is extracted and a main point is created in which a sketch is created and is extruded followed by the drafting of 0.5 degree.

The solid body is translated to the various points created.

On the next surface, that is door panel, various holes are created considering the previous surface’s extrude and four way locater in order to maintain around 1mm gap.

Draft Analysis

Draft analysis is done along the tooling direction.
