Week 9 - Project 1 - Door Applique Design with Engineering Features
Creation of Applique:
First check the quality of class A surface with boundary option & by seeing disassemble the component.
Creation of tooling axis & checking the draft analysis:
Place the compass in the Class A surface & lock at current orientation, create a point on the surface
Then create the line on the point with compass direction.
Class B Surface:
Then extract only the plain surface without fillet surface.
Extrapolate over the outer boundary of surface of about 5 mm & offset the surface to 2.5mm.
Trim & fillet the surface of ~20mm on the surface.
Class C surface:
By extracting the boundary & sweep the boundary with 3 degree draft.
Then extrapolate the boundary to ensure to intersect each other after that trim it & joint to form a closed surface.
Finally trim class C & class B surface, then join with class A surface.
In part body, give closed surface to form a closed body.
Draft analysis:
To check the draft analysis, place the compass in the tooling axis& lock it.
Click on the surface it look green means the part satisfies the condition.
Locators:
To fix the part at its position, part should satisfy the 12 degree of freedom.
Now we have made two 4 way locator & one two way locator at extreme positions.
Ensure that part should have equal height & only miss direction is Y-direction which can be arrested using the Heat strike.
Heat Strike:
This are the easy method for the fixation of child part with the parent object by the help of heat fusion or by ultra sonic fusion welding.
Minimum distance between heat strike should be of 50mm.
With the help of parallel curve option offset outer boundary of about 15 mm inside.
Create the equiv distance point of 12 nos which are spot for heat strike.
Clearance for Counter part:
By creating the clearance which is tolerance for entering heat strike into the parent part.
For locators clearance is 0.1mm & for heat strike clearance of 0.5 mm per side.
Publish: Class A, Class B, Class C surface,Tooling axis, Counter part surface.
