Challenge

Week 8 - Challenge 4 - Coin Holder Design

Now we are going to design coin holder.

Initially we are going to check the surface quality by using boundary option by click the boundary where disassemble the boundary & check its quality (split into 2 domain)looking fine.

Check the tooling axis from where the hole like area is usually selected as core above is formed as cavity by intersecting the surface check the angle - result: 90 degree.

Usually there should be some minimum draft angle of 3 degree, at bottom surface extract the surface & create the point on the center by giving the zero the distance value.

Create a line on perpendicular to surface which is a tooling axis.

Draft angle:

Place the compass at tooling axis accordingly & lock it.

Check the analysis at running point. Here draft angle seems to be perpendicular to the surface so look red (not able to moulding).

Class B surface:

Base Surface:

Initially extract the surface un-trim it , extrapolate it trim to offset to 2.5mm form a surface.

Side wall Surface:

Extract the surface un-trim it, extrapolate it trim & give edge fillet then offset to 2.5mm form a surface.

Top Taper Surface:

Multi extract the surface, extrapolate both side & offset to form a surface.

Outer wall surface:

Multi extract, offset & extrapolate to form the surface & again do same for another combine to form a surface.

Create a final surface by trimming all unnecessary elements.

Class C surface:

Create the surface by extracting the outer boundary after that use the sweep options (with reference surface options)to form a surface(surface distance-4 mm inside direction).

Do the same for inner hole development.

Trim all the surface to form a completely closed.

Use the closed surface option to form a complete solid.

Making the draft analysis again on to the solid where each inner wall seems to red which needs a more draft angle in class A surface.

Publication of class A, B, C1, C2surface & tooling axis.
