Week 9 - Project 1 - Door Applique Design with Engineering Features
AIM:
- Create the Door Applique plastic component through the given Class-A Surface.
- Create the heat stakes and the locators considering the design rules.
PROCEDURE:
Creation of the solid part using given Class A Surface.
- Ensure the given Class A surface that there is gap in That.

- Offset the Class A Surface at 2.5mm and also extrapolate it at some length.

- Sweep the outer boundary of the class A Surface at 90 degree by taking Class A surafce as a support.

- Now join the Class A and Class C.

- Trim between class B and Join of Class A+C.

- Insert new body and define the close surface for the trimmed final plastic component.

- Now unhide Door panel and thicken it for 2mm.

CREATION OF 4 WAY AND 2 WAY LOCATORS:
Locators are used to restrict the degree of freedom
4 WAY LOCATORS are prevent the movement at 2 axes( +x -x)_(+y -y) on the plane.
PROCEDURE:
- First create plane just for sketch reference at the centre of the panel.
- Now create the sketch for the 4 way locators.

- Pad it and make sure neutral fiber .

- Then draft the side wall of the 4 way locators at 0.5degree.

- Now champer the edge of the locators.

- Add fillet of .25 mm.

- Then Copy the same 4 way locators and locate it.

2 WAY LOCATORS are prevent the movement at 1 axes on the plane.
- Create the two way locators.

- Pad it.

- Champer it.

- Fillet it.

CREATION OF THE HEAT STAKES:
Manufacturing operations currently use many different combinations of attachment methods to keep components together.Common fasteners such as bolts, screws, and rivets can be used to form permanent sttachments. but there are attachment methods that don't require secondary hardware. One of those methods is heat staking, which doesn't require additional fasteners.
REASONS FOR HEAT STAKING:
- Multiple staking shapes for different benefits.
- Excellent durability.
- No extra materials are needed.
- Increased efficiency.
- Easy maintenance.
PROCEDURE:
- Create the Sketch.

- Pad it.

- Draft it.

- After creating the heat stakes copy the same component and move it by using the translators point to point option.

CREATION OF CLEARANCE:
FOR 4 WAY LOCATORS:
- Create the sketch.

- Pad it.

- Draft it.

- Now apply the remove Boolean operation by defining the door panel.
- And repeate the process for remaining locators.

FOR 2 WAY LOCATORS:
- Create the sketch.

- Pad it.

- Draft it.

- Now apply the remove Boolean operation by defining the door panel.

FOR HEAT STAKES:
- Create the sketch.

- Pad it.

- Draft it.

- Now apply the remove Boolean operation by defining the door panel.
- And repeate the process for remaining heat stakes.

DRAFT ANALYSIS:
FOR MAIN TOOLING AXIS:

Here everything is perfect to proceed that means it won't create any issue during the ejection process.
RESULT:

CONCLUSION:
Door Applique plastic component with engineering features using Class A Surface have been successfully created and draft analysis have been performed for the Same.
