Challenge

Week 9 - Challenge 2 - Switch Bezel Design

The given class A surface was analysed and the z-axis was found to be the suitable tooling direction for the product. To create the tooling axis, the base surface was extracted and a point was created on it's centre. Then an axis system was created with that point as it's origin. Using the yz plane of this axis system, intersect command is used to extract the curves of the given class A surface along the same plane. Two construction lines were created along the lines representing the inner walls. Another line was created which bisects the above said two construction lines. This line is taken as the dummy tooling axis. Since the surface has an inclined wall to the tooling direction, but doesn't have a fourth wall, a line at an angle of 5° to the inclined wall was created on the zx plane, passing through the origin of the axis system. Finally the tooling axis was created by bisecting this line and the dummy tooling axis.
