Week 9 - Challenge 1 - Base Bracket Design

BASE BRACKET

DRAFT ANALYSIS:

To perform a draft analysis of the Class A surface based on the main tooling axis. This analysis ensures that the design is suitable for injection molding by verifying that the surfaces are properly drafted in the direction of the tooling axis.

  • First we create the main tooling axis.
  • Change the view mode in customize view parameter and change in material mode.
  • After that switch on the quick analysis and then set the draft direction using the compass.
  • Positioned the compass in main tooling axis.
  • Change the draft direction and check the both core and cavity sides.
  • Its showing green colour in tooling direction. This is the mold opening direction.
This is the way of create and check the draft analysis.

TOOLING AXIS:

Tooling axis its most important in the plastic product design this axis is also mold axis with help of mold open and close operation. Create the main tooling axis we need one dummy tooling axis after that only get the main tooling axis. This axis based only create and check the draft analysis.

  • Create the point in class A surface.
  • After that create a line in Z direction using the point-direction method this is dummy tooling axis.
  • Create the plane in dummy tooling axis and point by parallel through point option.
  • Intersect the class A surface with a help of the plane.
  • Then create the two lines by using point-point direction with help of intersect line.
  • Get the two lines for create the main tooling axis line using bisecting method.
