Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation - Challenge 2

Creation of the Boss and Dog house.

1.Boss:

For the creation of the boss, we have to follow some design rules.

For the boss on the coin holder first, extract the bottom surface on which the boss is required.

Drawn a positioned sketch of the boss on the extracted face.

For the thickness of the boss, the rule is - thickness = 0.6* part thickness, 0.6*2.5=1.5

For the M6 screw, the inner dia is 5.2mm and the outer dia is 8.2mm.

Extruded this sketch in the ratio of 3:1 as per design rule.

Draft of value 0.5 is given as per design rule.

Then assembled this with the base body.

For the support, the rib is given to the boss.

They also have rules - Draft=0.5 degree

thickness= minimum 0.75mm

Fillet: The minimal fillet of 0.25mm is given to avoid sharp edges.

Dog house Creation:

The dog house is used to avoid the sink marks on class A.

The rectangle of required dimensions is drawn on the positioned sketch.

The minimum width of the dog house should be 12mm.

Sweep this in the tooling direction with the draft value of 1.5 degrees as per the design rules for the length of 20mm.

The thickness for the dog house is given 2mm.

Draft of value 0.5 degrees is given to the inside surface of the dog house in the side core tooling axis.

In the dog house, the thickness of the wall where it came in contact with the main body is important.

For this, there is a rule- Dog house thickness = thickness of part* 0.40

i. e 2.5*0.40 = 1mm

Height of bottom= it should be between 3.0mm-6.0mm

Trim this surface and split it with a dog house in the part workbench.

Fillets: give the fillets as per rule and requirement.
