Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation - Challenge 2
AIM : Design of Ribs, screw boss & dog house for B-side features.
Platform used CATIA v5
Design considerations to be followed are
Process : Injection molding is one of the most widely used processes for fabrication of plastic parts. The injection molding process requires the injection molding machine, raw plastic, and the mold. The raw plastic is melted in the injection molding machine and then poured into the mold where it is allowed to cool and solidify. The melted plastic takes the desired shape after cooling.
Final,C surface joined with B surface here we need to perform B-side features
Lets do it,

Design of ribs, following the minimum spacing between ribs .

1.Extruding the CAD design &
Thickening the surfaces for 1mm
Defineing the Draft angle as per the OEM"s

Design of screw boss, for M-16 screw alignment

Pading the CAD design,as per the guideliness(12.5mm)

Defining, the Draft angle 0.5 degress

Design rib alignment for screw boss

Translating the Screw boss for fixing alignment for the second position

Cut section view

Design of dog house in 2D CAD,
Dog house is an engineering feature used in plastic trim design. Dog houses are used as supporting feature. Sometimes other engineering features like snaps; locators etc. are mounded on them to increase their strength.

Extrude the CAD diagram for 20mm ,

Next thicken the surface 3mm

Taking the surfaces and spliting the c part to get exact output design of dog house

Draft analysis for component with side core actuator

Component is clearing the side core actuator

TREE STRUCTURE:

OUTPUT : Thus, the final B-side features are done for center console coinholer
