DRAFT ANALYSIS:

Draft Analysis is an analysis that analysis all the surface angles with respect to the Tooling axis. With the help of this analysis, we identify the incorrect surface area and prevent the damage which will be occurred while the manufacturing process.

while analyzing the draft angle of the plastic components we should maintain the angle of 3deg throughout all the areas on the surface of a component.

TOOLING AXIS:

For Draft Analysis, We need the axis as a reference to analyze the surface and also the Tooling axis is the axis where the manufactured components are ejected with respect to it. This Tooling Axis is created by several different types of methods which totally depends on the Designer by considering the manufacturing machine availability in industries.

several methods are there to create a tooling axis for the component in CATIA V5, some of them are given below.

  • POINT METHOD(General Method): Create a point anywhere on the surface of the component and draw a line with respect to the point that we created.
  • BISECTING METHOD: For Bisecting method, we need two lines. So we create the required lines on the surface of the component by finding the intersection line of the plane and the surfaces of the component. the lines are mainly made by the point-point option in the CATIA software and finally, we create a Tooling Axis at a particular position where the created lines are bisecting together.

Here the Tooling Axis is created on the surface of the component by using normal to the surface function.

CLASS - A DRAFT ANALYSIS:

Class - A itself I have this red area(below 3deg) with respect to the tooling axis.

PART BODY DRAFT ANALYSIS(Final Part):

Here are some of the areas in the Dog House that are red in color, because the draft that I provided to those outer surfaces won't come due to the uneven bottom surface for the neutral surface selection in the draft command.
