Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation - Challenge 2

DOGHOUSE DESIGN:

The images of the complete part in different orientations are shown below

Tooling axis: -

Tooling axis is created normal to the extract of the inner face of Class A.

Apart from tooling axis, the doghouse feature requires a separate tooling axis called the side core axis to eject the part.

Draft analysis of final part: -

Here, Class A and Class C have draft angles which are less than the 3-degree upper limit draft. In the part, Class A is having draft less than 3-degree. Thus, for the ease in ejection, Class A has to be modified according to the requirement in draft. Class C is generated having 90-degree angle with respect to Class A, thus this result for Class C is expected.

In the negative direction, we see that Class B is having draft greater than 3-degrees and the doghouse walls are negative. This is because the walls are constructed having draft angle of 0.5 degree, thus, it satisfies the 0.5 draft condition and not the 3-degree condition. The solution to this is giving the doghouse walls a draft of 3-degree which can be done easily with the draft command.

For the ejection of doghouse core in the direction of side core axis, the draft analysis is done with respect to it.

The Class B surface is having curvature and inclination in various regions, thus, it shows patches of all the three colours. The point of observation is the doghouse feature which has all of its inner walls above the 0.5-degree draft. Thus, the design of doghouse feature is acceptable.
