Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation - Challenge 1
AIM: To create a rib for the center console coin holder as per the OEM standards and design rules.
RIBS
Ribs are indispensable functional structures on many plastic parts. It can effectively improve the rigidity and strength of plastic parts.By using ribs, it is not necessary to greatly increase the wall thickness of the plastic parts, Ribs are generally designed on the non-appearing surface of the plastic part, and its direction is as close as possible to the flow direction of plastic melt filling. Ribs should neither be too long nor too thick, otherwise, it will increase the difficulty of injection molding, causing problems such as voids and sink marks on the back.

PROCEDURE:
- Extract the B side surfaces of the coin holder where the Rib has to be created.
- Create a sketch on the extracted surface, by giving the appropriate dimensions.
- Extrude the sketch created along the Tooling Axis with a height of 12.5mm.
H = 5*Thickness of the component(T)
- Thick the extruded surface with a thickness of 1mm.
W=0.4*T
- Draft the required faces.
0.5 Deg per side
- Provide the required filets.(0.25mm)
- Rib Root Diameter should have a deviation of +/- 30% of the wall thickness(T).

Another rib created by following the same design rules with a ratio of 2:1.
