Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation - Challenge 1

Rib Attachment Feature for Coin Holder

Aim : The main objective is to create rib feature for coin holder. Here, we are provided with a coin holder plastic component as input.

First of all, create a tooling axis. Extract a flat surface and add a point in middle. Add an axis system there and create a line which will act as tooling axis.

On draft analysis, it is readable that the side walls are perfectly parallel and has zero degree draft along tooling direction. So, CAS team can be informed and requested to provide little tilt at those surfaces.

Lets move forward and create ribs for a flat surface where the component would need some backend strength. Extract the surface and create a sketch as shown where the rib is required.

Use pad feature onto the line profile and add thickness to the same. While padding, consider all the parametres for designing a rib which are shown in below image.

After padding, give required draft of 0.5 degree and fillet of 2.5mm radius.

Here, we are adding another rib of same dimensions at some distance.

Take intersection of entire component and study the measurements if they are following the rules.

Here, radius for the opening is 1.343mm. That means diametre be 1.343*2 = 2.686mm, which is in the range of t +/- 30%t (1.75 to 3.25mm). Also, all the measurements are correct.

For draft analysis, we can see the ribs are perfectly created and shows green surface for 0.5 degree draft value.
