Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation - Challenge 1

Rib Design:

Rib is used to provided stiffness to the body without increasing overall thickness of the body.

Point to be consider while Design a rib:

  1. Thickness:

Part should have a thickness which 0.4*thickness of wall thickness of part. Considering current case part wall thickness is 2.5mm which is multiplied by 0.4, then get value of 1mm rib thickness.

  1. Height of Rib:

Height of rib should be greater than or equal to 5 times the wall thickness. Considering the current case part should height of 5 with is multiplied by 2.5, get the value of 12.5mm rib height.

  1. Rib Draft angle:

Rib should have minimum draft angle of 0.5degree.

  1. Rib fillet Radius:

Each face should the maximum filet of 0.25 mm.

  1. Rib Root Thickness:

Part should have the root thickness of minimum 30% in part wall thickness. In current case,

Value is measure by taking the tangential circle two fillet & base surface value is 1.34mm.

  1. Thickness at Top:

Part should have minimum thickness (0.75mm~0.80mm) to form a sufficient thickness a surface.

  1. Spacing:

Spacing between the rib should be height of the rib divide by 3 times. Considering the current case rib height is 12.5/3 equals to 4.16mm rib spacing.
