DESIGN RIB ON THE COIN HOLDER USING CATIA

Objective

To design the Ribs for the coin holder considering the designing rules.

Ribs

Ribs are a feature in plastic injection moulded parts. They are thin extensions that run perpendicular to a wall or plane. They are commonly used to additional support and strength to a part.

For Design Rib

1. Extract the base surface sketch line on the surface then extrude the line to 12.5mm height following the design rule 5*t

2. After extrude moving to part work bench thicken the surface to 1mm following the design rule 0.4*t.

3. The thicken ribs to Drafted 0.5 degree pulling direction is taken as tooling direction.

4. The drafted rib is to be assembled into the coin holder part body.

5. Another rib is created at the spacing of 2*t design rule.

6. Provide 0.25mm edge fillet to the both ribs.

7. Make intersection along XY plane and Check the rib design dimensions using measure tools.

8. Draft analysis of the ribs.
