Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation - Challenge 1

REPORT ON CREATING RIBS ON COIN HOLDER PART BODY

First extracting the surface on which the ribs are to be created.

Use position sketch, Sketch on the surface extracted above.

Make the shetch fully constrained so that the sketch will be in isoconstrained.

Now extrude the line 5 times the the thickness of the part body ie. 5*2.5mm, it is because there are certain standard dimensions for RIB creation.

Now change the workbench to part body, and thicken the extruded surface upto 40% of part body thickness ie. 0.4*2.5mm.

Giving the thickened body a draft of 1deg on all side faces.

filliting the all edges with the maximum radius of 0.25mm.

The rib is created

Insert a plane in the middle of the rib and body so that the two sides are symmetry.

Now by intersect tool select the body and the plane.

create a circle by selecting the tritangent circle and select the three edges.

Use measuring tool to find the radius of the circle which determines the RIB ROOT THICKNESS.

It should not be more than 40% in addition to part body thickness ie.. 2.5*1.4=3.5mm so anything less than 3.5mm is Ok.

Now create an another rib with the same standards as followed above.

Draft analysis after the rib creation.
