Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation - Challenge 1
AIM : To Create the rib for the Centre console coin holder considering the design rules.
INTRODUCTION :- Ribs are a feature in plastic injection molded parts. They are thin extensions that run perpendicular from a wall or plane. They are commonly used to provide additional support and strength to a part. Thickness and location are essential to rib design.
Ribs should be designed with a thickness that is half the wall thickness to avoid a thick sextion at the wall base.
Proper rib design involves Five main issues:
- Thickness
- Height
- Location
- Quantity
- Manufacturability

PROCEDURE :-
Rib creation started with the coin holder surface extraction, where the rib construction can be performed.

Now we draw the 12.5mm line on this plane according to the rib design rule i.e H=5*t

After extrdue ,moving to the partworkbench and increase the thck surface by 1mm, i.e 0.4*t.

now giving the draft by 0.5degrees.Piulling direction as the upper face of the ribs. and the another irb is created at spacing of 2*t of design rule.

Both the ribs give edge fillet 0.25mm

Now check the Ribs Design :-
The coin holder is intersected along X-Y plane to obtain the boundary lines.

ROOT ANALYSIS :-
The tritangent circle is created from the outlines of ribs and base surface and then the circle dimensions is measured.

DRAFT ANALYSIS PERFORMED ON THE RIBS OF COIN HOLDER :-

CONCLUSION :-
The ribs for the coin holder has been successfully created, considering the design rules as mentioned in the given data.
