Week 8 Worm Gear Challenge
AIM:
For this challenge, you will have to perform a transient structural analysis on a worm gear assembly. For the academic version, you need to cut the gear by half so as to bring the model within limits. For the challenge, you have to rotate the worm so as to get to almost end of the half cut and get results for Equivalent stress, Equivalent elastic strain and the total deformation in the model. You can use a finer mesh while performing the challenge and submit a well formatted report with appropriate images.
PROCEDURE:
- Open the Ansys workbench and import the given model into the workbench.

- Open the edit space claim and change if the modification need to be done on the model.

- open the model in the model setup tab and rename the parts accroding to the names of the parts.

- Create the contacts in the connection tools and create the contact between the worm and gear as a frictionaless contact.

- Create the joints for the model in the ground to gear and ground to worm for the model.

- Generate the mesh for the given model.

- Give the Analysis time step as 15 and large deformation on and weak spring on and output controls on for the model.

- Create the joint for the model from revolute joint for the worm gear.

- In th output block call the large deformation,Stress, strain.
