Class A Draft Analysis

Draft Analysis of Class A Surface

Draft in plastic parts

Draft is provided on parts to ease the process of manufacturing. In manufacturing of automotive plastic parts the most widely used method is injection moulding. Providing draft helps to remove the die easily from the surface of the part.

Benefits of drafting

• Reduces surface contact during die retraction
• It makes the process faster causes less chance of wear in die or defects in components .

DRAFT ANALYSIS

This procedure is done to check the available draft in the retraction direction. The colour variation depicts the ammount of draft angle at that suface

Tooling Axis

This is defined as the direction of retraction of die. It is selected in such a manner that most of the feature of the parts are covered in this axis like holes, projections etc.

Bisecting method

This method is used to create the axis of tooling. For this method the positon of axis is choosen at that point is bisecting the profile of the most dominant feature during draft creation.
