Week 8 - Challenge 3 - Switch Bezel Design
Switch Bezel Design
Aim: To design switch Bezel with the help of skin data provided and given designing requirement with the help of generative shape designing of Catia V5 and also to perform the draft analysis.
Objective: learning and understanding about the Switch Bezel and surface designing in Catia V5.
Designing Methodology and Requirements:
Requirements for designing Swich Bezel:
- Class A surface
- Class B surface
- Class C surface
- Tooling Direction
Designing Methodology:
Tooling Direction:
A point is created in the mid of the base surface and the sketches are drawn on the sides and then they are bisected in order to get the tooling direction.
Class A Surface.
Class A surface was provided to us in the form of skin data which was extracted and with the help of that Class B and Class C as well as other features were created.

Class B Surface:
In this, various surfaces are extracted and untrimmed, after that they were extrapolated and at the intersections it is trimmed. And finally, the fillet radius measured and fillets are provided to the surface.
Class C Surface:
The outer boundaries are extracted and then it was sweeped with the help of tooling direction created and 3-degree draft angle.
Draft Analysis:
Draft analysis is done by first setting the compass coinciding with the tooling axis and in the direction of that, after which it was locked and the draft analysis is done by taking 2.8 degree as the minimum angle required.
