Week 8 - Challenge 2 - Base Bracket Design

Challenge 2- Week 8- Base Bracket Design

Aim of the project: To design the surface of Base bracket with the help of given skin data and then converting it to solid part body and performing the draft analysis.

Objective: To learn the part modelling using surface designing and draft analysis using Catia V5.

Design Methodology and Requirements:

  • The given skin data surface A is downloaded and with the help of that further designing proceed.

  • From class A skin data first of all tooling direction is created by creating a plane and with the intersection operation.
  • Then with the help of extract geometry the ribs are extracted and then its untrimmed and extrapolated.
  • The sheets are trimmed for getting the desired surface design
  • Similarly Rib 2 is designed
  • The connector is extracted and its offset to the given distance
  • Similarly, the base is also extracted and extrapolated
  • Finally, the unnecessary portions are trimmed to get the desired surface
  • After that class C surface is created and Class A and Class C are joined
  • Finally, C is trimmed with the help of join and class B and we get the desired result by creating a closed part body.

Conclusion:

With the help of this project, I learned about creating part body with the help of various surfaces in Catia V5 and performing the Draft Analysis.
