Week 8 - Challenge 1 - Base Bracket Design
Create the Base Bracket Plastic component through the given Class-A surface. To begin with, the tooling axis for the given Class-A Surface should be created meeting the requirements of the draft angle and at the end perform the Draft analysis on the model.
Thickness of Plastic Part - 2.5 mm
CLASS- A SURAFCE

This is the given class- A surface. In which there are two holes to be crated and two ribs. These two ribs are connected by a flat surface.
GENERATING TOOLING AXIS
1. Doing the connectivity check to ensure whether the given class-A surface is continuous or not. It seems there is not any discontinuous boundary.

2. This is the surface and YZ plane intersection boundary line. The nearest parallel surface to assumed drawing direction is chosen for bisecting.
3. The tooling axis is created.

BASE BRACKET DESIGN PROCEDURE
CLASS-B SURFACE
RIB CREATION
- Using the class-A surface extract the rib.
- Un-trim the extracted surface.
- Extrapolate the un-trimmed surface.
- Trim the surface as per required shape.
- Offset the created rib surfaces for 2.5mm. ( CLASS-B SURFACE)
- Repeat the same for the other side of the rib.
BASE SURFACE & THE FLAT SURFACE CONNECTING THE RIBS
- Extract the flat connecting surface from class-A.
- Un-trim the extracted surface.
- Extrapolate the un-trimmed surface.
- Offset the extrapolated untrimmed surface for 2.5mm.
- Extract the base surface from class-A surface.
- Un-trim the base surface.
- Extrapolate the base surface.
- Offset he base surface for 2.5mm
- Trim the flat surface connecting the ribs and then trim it with the base surface.
- Grive the edge fillets as given in class-A surface.
- Fillets value should be be thickness + radius of the fillet. (2.5+3)
- Since the class-B surface is 2.5mm downwards to the class-A surface need to add this offset distance with the filleting radius observed from the class-A surface. Fillets value should be be thickness + radius of the fillet. (2.5+3)
CLASS-C SURFACE
This the connecting surface of class-A and class-B surfaces.
- Create the boundary of class-A surface using boundary command.
- Use sweep command to generate class-C surface along the draft direction with 3 degrees drafting angle with respect to the tooling axis.
- sweep the hole features from class-A surface.
- Then join the class-A surface with sweep surfces.
PUBLICATION
- Publish class-A surface, Tooling axis, class-B surface & lass-C surface.

DRAFT ANALYSIS
The Draft Analysis command enables you to detect if the part you drafted will be easily removed. This type of analysis is performed based on color ranges identifying zones on the analyzed element where the deviation from the draft direction at any point, corresponds to specified values.
Draft analysis from the selected hole feature as tooling axis location.

CONCLUSION
Hence the plastic component is created from class-A surface and draft analysis is done.
