Week 8 - Challenge 1 - Base Bracket Design

BASE BRACKET DESIGN

AIM:

To Create the Base Bracket Plastic Component through the given Class-A surface and to perform the Draft analysis on the model.

OBJECTIVES:

Create a Tooling Axis

Draft Analysis of Class A Surface

Create a Class B Surface

Create a Class C Surface

Creating a Solid Part

SPECIFICATIONS:

Base Bracket Thickness = 2.5mm

Minimum Draft Angle = 3 Degree

CLASS A SURFACE:

Class A surfaces are primarily used in the automotive environment and refer to those surfaces which are visible in a product. In automotive design, a class A surface in any of a set of freedom surfaces of high efficiency and quality.

The Class A Surface Provided is BASE BRACKET, from the given class A surface i created the class B and C surface. I created the required Draft Angle for the BASE BRACKET and performed the Daft Analysis.

TOOLING AXIS:

After the class A is imported check for possible irregularity, using boundary option create a center point and a dummy tooling axis. Using the intersection lines will be created along the inclined walls, these lines are used for creation of Tooling axis by bisecting method.

DRAFT ANALYSIS:

The draft analysis technique is used to analyze whether our part model created is manufacturable based on the draft condition applied.

CLASS B SURFACE:

The Class B surface is formed by Extracting the given class A surface. I extract the part which is needed and untrimed the surface.

The Extropolate operation is done and trimed the surface together, after i offset the trimed surface to create RIB 1. same operation is repeated to create RIB 2 and BASE surafce.

CLASS C SURFACE:

The C surface is created by extracting the boundary of the Class A surface and do a sweep Downwards. There are two holes in the surface, i extracted the boundaries of the holes and sweep them towards down. Join the sweeps with Class A surface and trim them with Class B surface to get the part and convert it into a closed surface.
