Week 7-Long Piston With Cam
AIM:
For this challenge, you will have to perform a transient analysis on a piston and cam mechanism model that has been provided to you. You need to run the analysis with Frictionless contact, Frictional with 0.1 and 0.2 as the frictional contact for a total of 3 cases. Find out the Equivalent Stress, Directional Deformation and Equivalent Elastic Strain and compare them for all the three cases. Give an inference as to why the results vary between cases.
Procedure:
- Open the Ansys work bench and import the given Geomentry.

- After importing the given geomentry we should have to open the edit space claim any surfaces are missing or to modify.

- After that we should have to give the Ridgid support for the Barrel and cam and they will obtain the centre of point of mass acting on it.

- we should have to rename the model parts according to the given model.
- we should have to create the contact for the model and we should have to select the faces for selecting the geomentry of the given model.

- After creating the contacts we should create the joints for the model Body to body of Translation and Rotation joints for the model.

- After creating the joints we should have to create the mesh for the given model.

- we should have to give the analysis setting of the time step of 9 and give the required parameters.

- we should have to create the rotataion joint for the model.

- we should give the Deformation,Equvalient stress,Equvalient strain.

Equivalent stress- Stress keeps on increasing as we increase the friction coefficient value .As the frictional coefficient value increase it resists
more the movement of the follower and the follower and thus the Stress develops at the stem of the follower
Directional Deformation- it is increasing slight with increasing friction coefficient value.
Equivalent Elastic strain- Also because of the same reason as equivalent stress, Equivalent strain also increases due to more resistance offered.
